@Mort81

Thanks for the heads up. It's more for the grand kids tho so I'm sure that they will be okay with it.

I also have been trying like crazy to rip this movie but no luck. dvdShrink nor DVD Decrypter can read this movie. Even if I ignore it will only do 93% I also tried Fabdvd and it says error 0496. I dont know what that means.(All these where using AnyDVD running in the backround.) If anybody knows how to rip this movie please help.

eazyi - try it without AnyDVD running in the background. I know for sure it can cause problems with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 .

@eazyi

Do you have the latest version of AnyDVD ver. 5.5.4.1?

See if that helps if you do not.

When did that version comeout? I actually got the 21 days free trial like 10 days ago. I'm at work right now ill check what version I have when I get home.

Hey thanks for everybodys support.

Oh one more thing I also got another copy of "Christmas with the Kranks" and that did not work either. I know for sure you can decrypt most of the new movies like Skeleton Key, and War of the Worlds with no problem. These movies are out for release on 11/22/2005. (Got a friend that works in a video store.)

Once again thanks!!

Hey guys finally burn it!!!! the only thing that is bad about it is that I only got the main movie with no scene selection or special features that was the only way. now the pros are that i got all the languages. so im going to try and burn the whole movie tonight. i used dvd decrypter in iso file mode which only gives you the main movie. once done ripping go to dvd shrink reauthor and open the files its going to tell you to rename so I used CHRISTMASN_WITH_THE_KRANKS 1
and what that does it creates a new file or you can call it a copy of the one you decrypted. thats the only way dvd shrink would read it. then just add the files in reauthor and back it up once that is done u can burn it to a dvd. (note only the main movie will play and of course you also get to have all of the languages.) if you guys have any question if you are not able to do it email me at removed ill then email you back with my phone number so I can guide on how to rip this movie.

I hope this can help you guys.

Could you be more specific w/ the errors please? What does it say word for word. A screen shot would be nice if you don't mind.

I just backed up "Christmas With The Kranks" using the old DVD XCopy Express with DVD43 running in the background. Also, DVD Shrink appears to work on this movie with DVD43 running in the background. By the way, DVD43 is free!!!

I have had this error "Cyclic Redundancy Errors" with Madagascar.

I installed AnyDVD and problem solved.

It's not bad pressing, it is infact that Sony ARRccOS crap.

Css encryption, bad press, and damaged or dirty disc's can all cause CR errors.

Mort81 is correct that Css encryption, bad press, and damaged or dirty disc's can all cause CR errors.

In fact, I just experienced this backing up Outer Limits (60's Series). It's a 2 sided disc. One side gave me the "Cyclic Redundancy Errors" message.

I flipped the disc over and even shut off DVD43 because I was sure it wasn't needed. Sure enough, it copied that side using DVD Shrink without any help from DVD43. I have not cleaned the other side yet, but I expect that will solve the CR problem.

Also, Twal1011 pointed out, sometimes you can also experience a compatibility problem between a certain brand of disc and a certain dvd drive. I have an NEC & Pioneer drive and sometimes simply switching the read drive solves a problem when copying.

@jeroencrx,

I had no trouble what-so-ever with Christmas with the Kranks. Used DVDShrink and burned with Nero. Don?t remember if I had AnyDVD turned on or not, but it can?t hurt..

Turn on your AnyDVD, get latest ver, 5.6.1.1, put the movie in the drive and let it work then open DVDShrink and read in the Movie. Set for full movie or re-author, your choice, since you have DVDDecrypter, tell Shrink to sind it to a folder of your choice and burn with Decrypter and let it do it?s work?.. If this doesn?t do it you may have a bad pressing.. Bad Business, you?ll have to exchange the disk..

You can also try to rip with DVDDecrypter and AnyDVD turned on in the background. In Decrypter be sure to go to Tools -> Settings -> I/O and under Interface set to: ElbyCDIO.Elaborate Bytes..This will help the 2 proggys work together?

See what you come up with and let us know???

Hi,

I have managed to rip the DVD fine with DVD Fab Decrypter. The reason I did it was so I could view the movie with my xbox 360, so I converted the VOB's (or at least tried) to WMV with WINAVI. However! Everytime I do this it seems to scramble the picture. WHy is this happening? The DVD VOB rip is fine quality.IS this some kind of protection?

Thanks,
