shrink/decrypter is what i use...........is there any option that can basically test run to make sure this doesnt happen. By this i mean not burn the dvd but test it out to make sure it would work, then afterwards actually burn...........tired of wasting $$$ :(

Here is a guide that uses all freeware:
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/backup%20with%20DVDFABDecrypter,S...
The reason I mentioned DVDFAB DECRYPTER is because DVDDecrypter has ceased operations and will not be updated so the newer encryptions can not be busted. DVDFAB DECRYPTER stepped up to the plate to take the place of DVDDecrypter( only for encryptions)

I kept getting this error with the movie "Sahara". It occured when Decrypter attempted to write the ISO. I also tried DVDFab Decrypter with the same results when I tried again to burn with Decrypter. I was at a friends place using his PC and all he had to burn with was Decrypter.
I took the movie home and used Nero to burn with, which worked.

i was thinking bout that man
my plan was using the same method.............using decrypter to rip, shrink to shrink i guess
and actually burn the .iso image with nero
nero good for burning iso?
cause 99 percent of my troubles come from decrypter tryin to burn the iso
i used to use Nero all the time for data cds/music/etc
I have the latest version of Nero so would Nero guys recommend ripping with decrypter/shrink and actually burning with Nero?

re simulation burn - just as you're gonna hit burn, untick burn and tick 'simulation burn'. with Nero always make sure a blank disc is in drive before you start so Nero can detect disc correctly first.
then it'll go thru the motions with a blank disc but won't write to it, then let's have LAST section of the log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.
You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

The log shows a media error:
(Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) )
You may want to try something else if you are still trying to burn the lightscribe media. Is it Maxell?
Nero failed a couple minutes into the burn process, which to me is an indication of a media problem as well.
Try a DVD RW so if your burn fails you can erase it and re-use.
Your log is missing the first few lines. These lines hold the device map, Nero version, firmware versions, DMA status and a few other helpful bits. The only thing we don't want is your Nero serial number.
Your memory usage % is rather high but with only 256 MB to work with I guess it would be. You should shut down as many applications as possible.
Task Manager > Processes > click "User Name"
You can shut down almost everything that has your name as the User Name, leave system, local and network service alone.
Leave explorer.exe running. These items are only shut off until you restart your computer or open an associated program.
InCD is not great to have if you are burning DVDs... That's why Nero makes a tool to remove it so you can do a clean InCD reinstall. I recommend you simply remove it:
http://nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html
InCD can conflict with your DVD programs.
FYI when I burned the DVD I was having the problem with, I used Shrink/Nero and burned video files, not the iso.

lmac222,
The blank media code: Disc Manufacturer: MXL RG - 02
That code is a Maxell disk. If you are using Verbatim where did you get them.

Did you dl that firmware update that Car.Mike gave you back at the beginning yours is way too old. I recently purchased this drive and it does not have a problem with Maxell disks, or any other media.

Yes it helps your burner to recognize new media and burn speeds.

If your firmware is outdated you run the risk of your burner not recognizing the media that you are trying to use. For example, your burners firmware is set for 4x media and you bought 8x. It might not recognize it. Firmware updates are good, they make your burner more compatible with the new types of media being produced.
