I am hoping I can find an answer to my problems here. I have changed the programs to backup my DVD's and have started using shrink and Nero, all was well for a week no problems ata all and then all of a sudden I was getting errors saying that the driver was being used by another program or something to that effect. I don't think I did anything different but this has been happening since and I have no Idea where to start looking for the problem. Please can someone give me any clues to why this has started happening all of a sudden. My OS is XP Pro if that help, Thanx

Before a total system restore:

What you need to do is remove all remnants of roxio off your pc. Use this tool for that purpose:
http://www.microadvantage.net/downloads/zapper60.zip

Leave this program off your pc.

Roxio has a packet in it called drag to disc. This packet is the usual culprit. Roxio tends to take over a system when you have multiple dvd burn programs on it.

Now remove all remnants of nero off your pc,using this tool:
http://ww2.nero.com/us/Nero_6_Clean_Tool.html

Nero also has a packet you want to avoid called INCD. Do not download this packet because trouble usually arrives. Nero and roxio sometimes conflict with each other.

Redownload nero, except INCD and give her a shot.

Edit: The reason to use those tools is because even though you think you delete them from your pc,there's always something left over in there. Those tools should completely wipe those programs off your pc.

As scubapete would say, looks like the tentacles of roxio has gotten its grasp on your pc! It does tend to take over.

Couldn't hurt and you may not have to re-format your pc.

You may even want to try to restore it to a point a couple weeks or so ago before this issue occured, then use the cleantool and roxi-zapper. Then do the nero installation and double check the settings in dvd shrink to autoburn with nero.

Good Luck

Edit: Shaman. I'm not familiar with alcohol 120%. If you happen to get the encryption off with the dvd player, then you will likely have to use a few cds to get the movie on them. You can't use blank dvds in that cd-rw drive.

Instead of buying alcohol 120,you can get a very good quality benq 1640 at newegg.com for around $42 that comes with nero. Combine that with dvd shrink -FREE- and you can rip and burn over 90% of original dvds with that combination for $42!

i'm back now, ok, i used the roxio zapper but before i use the clean tool just need to check this, would i be able to uninstall incd using the uninstall windows program as it is listed on its own as: ahead in incd and then ahead incd easy write reader? or would that just mess everything up?

Basic answer is no, you will have to run the clean tool to remove Nero completely and when you re install Nero dont include INCD
