i recently broke the switch from the fan at the point where it connects with the motherboard. now the fan doent work my question is doen it affect the ps2 in anyway.
Dont worry it isnt the end of the world, did you just pull the connector out, or did you rip the wire. If you dont mind me asking why was you PS2 open, if you were about to mod your PS2 then i suggest you soldier the wires to the motherboard, or buy a replacement fan, if you dont connect the fan, the PS2 will overheat and the CPU and other components will get damaged, dont think everything thing is okay, and dont play on it until you sort this out unless if you want to end up dropping more money to get another PS2!!
well i broke the white little square where the wires connect to the motherboard in other words a broke it off the motherboard. i was just cleaning it and i tried to unplugg the fan so when i pulled it up the wires didnt unclip it broke and the peace that is soldered to the board came off.
Yes, it looks a bit like abit like a screwdriver. It isnt hard soldering, if you get a soldering iron i can help you through the steps. First of all where are you, you can get a soldering iron from most electronic shops.
severe69, make sure you soldered the terminals right, can someone with a bulky PS2 tell severe69 if the fan has a intake of air or out take, if you solder the wires wrong way, it might do the oposite.
