Yeah ideally everyone should use Taiyo Yuden. But in the real world when they've 50 spindles of Maxell or Sony on sale for $28 including tax, what are we to do, lol. You can pick up Maxell, Sony, or Memorex, or Imation (at my Wal-Mart) anyway. Avoid the Memorex and Imation. You should be okay with Sony or Maxell.

Yeah I'm using crappy Taiwanese Maxell's right now, that'd definitely be a good upgrade.

I agree, shipping is kinda high there. It does beat going to the store for me too.
And I got my 100 pack a few days after I ordered it too, very fast.

Go with the Sonys. Admittedly, I bought the Maxell's made in Taiwan and they work okay for me, but I believe the Sony's made in Japan are made by TY. I had to rebuild NBA Live 2006 to get it to work without skipping, but I think that was just because of bad DVD rip.

Yeah I double checked the media code on the Maxell's I have been using and it turns out they're RITEKGO5, actually pretty good stuff. It's weird I could swear DVD Decrypter said they were CMC Magnetics garbage before. Oh well I ordered some TY's from supermediastore.com. Why put any unecessary stress on the PS2 laser? Supermediastore.com has some good deals on TY, Verbatim, and Ritek. Hell I wish my Wal-Mart sold Verbatim Light Scribe discs.

Yeah the Maxell's should be fine. Won't put any extra stress on the laser, and my Wal-Mart had em on sale for $28 for a 50 pack. I haven't had any issues with them. Damn having a modchip is awesome lol. So far I've backed up Soul Reaver 2, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, NHL 2006, NBA Live 2006, Dragonball Z Budokai 3, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi, Blitz the League, Digital Devil Saga, Shadow Hearts Covenant, Dragon Quest VIII (J), well I thought it was more than that. Oh well I justed started backing games a little while ago.
