The only differences between the two is the media code and what's actually printed on the disc itself ...

Other than that .. to quote a fellow After Dawner "bleurgh" (to both of 'em)

Real media is available for the same (and maybe less) money

i PERSONALLY detest the first...simply CRAP in MY OPINION...it's TDK's own stuff...and the 2nd, uhm...pretty crappy too~ no need to reiterate how i feel about CMC MAG...hehe

my crap-0-meter just went crazy on the first one and is recovering to MAX OUT AGAIN on the 2nd~ :)

get some BETTER stuff, you will be much happier in the long run~ :)

as catfreak stated, the "good stuff" can be had for the same price, IF NOT CHEAPER than this crap...

Good Day,

I have to return on my post because I see contradictory information.
As you can see I was told that the ttg02 were not good but according to this site:http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm they are classified as First Class Media. Can someone please clarify as I can have a good deal on them. Again the code is:

Packaging: 50 PC CAKE BOX
Media Code Mfr: TTG02
Disc Top Surface: ROBIN'S EGG BLUE BRANDED

Media Code:

At some point it may have been legit but it hasn't been updated in a loooong time. CD Freaks love CMC and hate Ritek GO5. There is no accounting for taste.

@digitalsk

well, i still stand by what i had said earlier, but, as neodave pointed out, IT's YOUR MONEY..do as you please...

i never go by what "digitalfaq" says, that site is WAY out of date, they also give GENERAL guidelines, nothing to oogle over and consider everything THEY rate as being "First Class, 2nd Class, Poor whatevas class" media to be biased based on the site owner's opinions from months if not YEARS ago, media has changed since then...what ONCE was good may now SUCK, and vice versa...what was ONCE regarded as decent, might have slipped a bit depending on the manufacturer's quality control...

i would PERSONALLY suggest you NOT buy EITHER of the 2 you mentioned...especially the "Robin's Egg Blue branded" ones w/ the TDK made media...TDK sucks a big one...even MORE so than CMC MAG ( IN MY OPINION of course!)...you can choose to believe whatever you want to believe on whichever website seems appealing to you, but as neodave stated, you've been warned :)

i personally will NOT help ANYONE who has blatantly disregarded my advice to them and then come back with problems w/ said media...that's how the cookie crumbles...no need to waste my time on someone who wouldn't listen the FIRST time around, why should i even give them a 2nd chance? (digitalsk, this last comment is NOT directed at you, it's for EVERYONE/ANYONE that has gone out or will go out and buy some media i CLEARLY state is crap and then to have problems with it and then come crying back to me for assistance) makes sense right? i have no harsh/bad feelings against you DigitalSK, let's get that CLEAR right now...i am more than willing to help you decide and make a WISE decision, just use your best judgement when time comes...

I think it's fair to say that TTG02 is a good media, but not quiet on par with Yuden, Verbatim or Maxell. However, it's safe to say that TTG02 is better than CMC MAG, yeah.. definitely.

Look at below pictures and you'll know exactly why I said that. I burned those recently and to prove which one stands out the best on both "quality & PI failures" I scanned all of them at 4X due to the fact that I did burned them at 4X as well.

** Here is the famous 8X DVD+R TY aka YUDEN000T02 (Yuden Co. Ltd)

** Here is the Maxell002 "8X DVD+R M.I.J" (Hitachi Maxell Ltd)

** Here is the TTG02 "8X DVD-R" (TDK Corp.)

That was a quick scanned of yours only, you need to "turn off" or unchecked "Quick Scan" and we'll see what's the results afterward.

Well here ya go full scan. I still got a decnt burn for junk. better than ya rebadged lite on. I usually just use quick scan cause Im impatient..lol.

Btw...these are tdk r plus that are branded cmc and they seem to scan better than the ones branded tdk. Hmm...I wonder why. lol!:>

Btw...this disc was burned with clonedvd and encoded with vso divxtodvd...so maybe thats why. I dont trust vso to burn...so I use clone to do the burning.:>

Of course it improves the scan when the disc that you burned is only 1.8GB .. show us a scan of a disc burned with the CMAG discs that's over 4GB and we'll see just how they stack up ...

Typical Yuden scans with my DW1640 with the speed set at maximum have around 7000 PI Errors, 625 PI Failures, and quality scores of over 96 with disc size of 4250 or so ..

I'm with Catfreak on this. Your CMC MAG which merely has 1818MB, yet the disc "quality" is only 93, and that's lower than both YUDEN 4400MB and MAXELL 3664MB of mine (both quality are 95). Plus your (CMC MAG) had 3 PI Failures, and both YUDEN and MAXELL has 2 PI Failures only. Noticed the differences?

However, the choice is yours to choose on what media to use.

Newbie to posting, longtime DVD backuper here. If you only learn one thing this year, here it is.

LISTEN TO THESE GUYS!

They do know what they are talking about and their info is right on.
I know, I've tried must of the suck disks, and have the same results,
don't burn, playback problems, start showing problems after 4 years etc. Really wouldn't want to bed in bed with your wife when you try to replay your wedding video after 5 years and end up with an unplayable coaster and a lifetime pass to the couch...

I now rely on TY's or Riteks solely,(haven't tried Verbatim as of yet) using the internet to look up some of the better deals, never had a complaint with either Ritek od TY's.

Could be wrong, but that's my opinion.

Hello , Hey all you guys who recommended these office depot Ritek R03's ....this is really good media! just like blivetNC says in the above post you can't go wrong with TY or Ritek... .well they have not let me down ! ;) i think its kind of a secret with those office depot disks because anytime there is a sale on verbatim media or maxell dvd media it always seems to be sold out at my office depot , but they always have plenty of the office depot riteks and they are cheaper and seem to work just as well..... if not better then the other name brand verbatims or maxells!! they are a nice treat that i would have never ever known about if it wasn't for the great people here on afterdawn! thanks again guys! /unjust

I just ment the tdk disc that were made by cmc scanned better than tdk made by tdk. That was my point. Nothing more. I been getting lucky lately with cmc, but I wish I could find good quality round my way. I cant find no jap discs round here and also these office depot discs cant seem to find either.
