No, It's not possible. This is actually one of the biggest problems that I had. There is really no problem launching an emulator off of a memory card or hard drive. The problem is saving the roms to the hard drive.
For some reason, you are only able to trasfer 30 files at a time without your PS2 locking up. So if you have like 400 roms that you want to save, you have to reset your Playstation 14 times. The easiest way to play your roms is to get yourself a pen drive and play them straight off of it. PGEN and SNES Station both have support for mass media.
I only play Sonic 2 so that's the only one that i bothered to transfer to my HDD. I actually own the game, but my power adapter burned out on my Genesis :(

Hi, A couple of questions, if I'm routing my ps2 wirelessly to my Pc can I copy files from my pc, i.e movies and music onto the harddrive and play them from my ps2, because ive already read that you can't rip dvd movies onto the hd, so i was wondering if i could do it that way?
Also if i patch a game e.g. pro evo 5, can i then copy the patched version provided i use my slide tool?

If you're saying you want to copy a patched backup onto your HD, then yes you can. You need an original game with a high TOC like Devil May Cry 1 or 2, and your slide tool of course. Start up HDLoader, then put in the original game, wait for about 20 seconds and select Install, then use your slide card to swap for the backup, select Continue and name the game. After that it should copy to the HD and should be playable.

??? Sure you can.
You just need a method to put them on there. The media players available play DivX .AVI and mpg movies really well.

I have an interesting question (prob answered b4...) about FFXI online. Can it be played with a V12 PSTwo + XCM HD Connect? You install the mod to your system, add the HDD & it makes the PSTwo think it is just like the old fatboys. I see ppl selling FFXI on ebay & other sites w/out the HDD. yeah, i do like that game :)

You would need a Boot Disc (Swapmagic etc) to put the Memory Card Exploit onto your PS2 Memory Card...
Then you need to hook your Hard Drive to your PS2 through a Network Adapter boot the HD Loader Exploit and let it format your Hard Drive...
If you're putting Orginal games on the hard drive (NOT BACKUPS) then you can install them straight through HD Loader by just putting the discs in and selecting Install... But if you're going to be putting ISO's or Backup'd Discs onto the Hard Drive you need to put the hard drive into your computer and use a program called WinHiip to Install the games
If you have a Network adapter and can get someone to make you an exploit on a MC for you .. then you won't need the boot discs but if you need to make the exploit yourself then you'll need them

You don't have to take out your HD and hook it up to your computer, that's just another way. Transfering games on the PC is MUCH faster though, and it takes a load off your laser.
Here's how to install backups:
After booting up HDLoader, put in a high TOC game like Devil May Cry 1 or 2.
Wait for about 15-20 seconds and select install, use your slide card/fliptop to swap for your backup. Now select Continue.
Name the game, select End, and it should work.
Not sure if you have Swap Magic or a modchip, but I hope this helps ya.

The easiest and fastest way is to use a usb pen drive. Launchelf has a menu where you can transfer files from one object to another. It works great for saving movies to your hard drive. You would need to make a partition with a program like the DMS HDD Format Tool. This is so you can have a partition to save to. It's available off of the DMS site.
The only thing about using a pen drive is that not all of them work. from my experiance, most lexar and crucial pendrives work. I've havn't found a working memorex one. If you have a method of playing burned cds, you can burn your movies and transfer them with lauchelf aswell. They need to be burned in a specific mode though. Just search from Nero PS2 backup or something and you should be able to find a guide.
