I have been told that you can make your dvd drive region free wth a certain peice of software, is this true? If so what is the software and where can I get it from?

I have 4 changes left.

Thanks

This is a free one....

There are others that cost a bit...

These don't actually make your drive region free. They just remove region protections as well as CSS encryptions from the disc when you load it in the drive.

From the software description:
Quote:
Software also overrides your DVD-ROM drive's region code mechanism, so even if you have RPC-2 locked DVD-ROM drive, you can still watch DVDs from any country in the world with your PC.
So your answer is YES.

You will not be disappointed with AnyDVD. I use it all the time. I backed up around 13 movies this weekend and did not have a single issue with any of them.

Great product.

Or you could always get a Regionfree Firmware for your dvdrom drive. NOTE - Regionfree firmware only half the equation ; you still need software such as AnyDVD to control your dvd player software's region setting. See here for more - http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=239

Hacked/Regionfree Firmwares can be found - http://forum.rpc1.org/index.php
