I'm not new to the scene of burning games... did so for many years on a ps1. Using nothing but verbs always worked perfectly...

Anyhow, I got a ps2. Messiah 3.2chip, and it's the scph50004

I started with some verbs i had lying around. They were dvd+r and turned out to be many freezing issues with them... So, i buy dvd-r of the same of the same verbs... no freezing... but many lagging issues(with audio, and loading of areas).

I figured... Lets go all out. I searched the net for days on dvds people had tested to work before. I found them in Taiyo Yuden dvd-r's. I buy the exact same ones... and not a single burn even boots up except for 1 game... which seems to work ok... but i mean come on. What is up with this... just wasted 6 perfectly good taiyo dvds. (They do work fine with the other devices in the house as i tried that too)

Quality scans with VSO all point out great quality...

anyhow what else have i tried. Burning at different speeds, different software ( Alcohol 120, Nero, DVD decryptor). Verbatim cds for ps1 games still work though, and there's no lagging issues with original games.

So, what's up with this. I got half a mind of just saying screw this and buying all my games original/import... It's modded anyhow >_> Cause, i ain't gonna continue buying dvds and wasting the money on it... while i could have gotten a game for it instead.

Thanks in advance

Couple of silly questions... what speeds have you tried to burn at? What games were you trying to backup? And, are you sure your chip is working? I ask the last one because I had a chip put in mine way back when and wasted a lot of disks thinking I made coasters... come to find out I had a bad chip.

Well with the verbs dvd-r i tried burning at 1x, 4x, and 8x. 4 giving the best results... but not good enough.

with the taiyo's. Well they couldn't burn lower then 4. So i tried 4, and 8. 4 making one game work to an extend.

I wouldn't really know if the modchip has issues. I have I-Ninja on an arita ritekg04(Which i can't seem to get anywhere) and that plays fine actually.

Ps1 back-ups work fine, and so does the imported ps2 game i have.

Edit: Oh yah the games.. well they were downloaded from the net. First being
.hack infection... seems to work on the taiyo yuden 4x backup.
suikoden 3... it works on the vern dvd+r but freezes, will not work on taiyo.
metal gear solid 3... works on verb dvd-r but lagging issues, a lot... It will not work on the taiyo.

This shouldn't be happening for such kickass media... truly damn the ps2 for being so picky about what media runs on it >_>

I also have a problem burning.
I used ridata 8x to burn god of war. I burnt it at 4x and the game skips and lags and is hardly playable.
I sent the game to my friend and he burnt it at 1X. The game then worked perfectly.
I have a lite on and he has a sony.
So i dont understand could i have possible burnt the game tooo fast?? My burner wont allow me to burn slower.

What can i do to make it work.

you guys could try using book type dvd-rom with dvd decrypter (if your burner supports it) 'cause that helps some people solve their issues. I have decrypter 3.5.1.0 and I see lite-on there but no sony (although I think I read somewhere that lite-on are pretty much rebadged sony?)
