hi, just last week my bro break my ps2 and it got a mod chip in it 2...anyway i sold it to EBgames and get 25doller for it. while im getting a new ps2 there..this guy work there say get the old ps2 cuz the new one gets overheat after like 3-4 hour of playin he say ...and got about 100 or them return already...
so i was wondering is this all true to the slim ps2? right now i dont know if my slim can overheart or not since im waiting for the swap magic...75001 thats the one i got
Yes I've heard of this problem with the new slim ps2's. They do tend to overheat very easily. The fan is just not enough and heat is not vented out properly.
However, the solution that the tech guy told me was that chips now increase the efficiency of the fan. As well, play your games with the flip open, meaning you'll be able to see the game spinning while you play. This helps ventilate the system
Computer Specs:
AMD Athlon64 3700+ (oc'ed to 2.5Ghz)
2gb OCZ premier RAM
ASUS A8R-MVP motherboard
two ATi X1600 Pro 512mb each running in Crossfire
Thermaltake Silent Purepower 500W PSU
LG DVD +/-RW drive 4120
ACER 19" LCD 1916B
On-Board 5.1 w/ Logitech X530 speaker system
the slim does have heat issues, adding a mod chip just adds extra
heat to the problem. I have a slim with DMS4 Pro chip.
after an hour or 2 it will have to cool down about 5 minutes
before it wants to load another game. If your house doesn't have AC
then you will have real problems.
The solution i found is that if you take a house fan, you know the small 12" round one's you can get anywhere, and stick it in front of the PSTwo it will make a world of difference. I played for hours
with no loading problems. It gives it all the extra air flow it could need and keeps it a lot cooler.
i plan to put a small piece of cloth on top of the left side than put a small bottle of froze water on top of it...think it helps? or its bad idea? ofcouse i dont want to block any hole ont he ps2
How do you expect a fan to be in that lil thing..lol
Any way i really think the old one is much betta...
i have heared that the slim ps2 gets screwed with a modchip in it...
it does no have much power to hold up all that crap....
to answer your question it is a real bad idea.
I know you think the cloth will help you, but as it get
wet from the ice melting in the bottle it will eventually
have to go somewhere, like inside you PS2 frying it.
Like i said, go out and buy a house fan and point it at the front
of the PSTwo where the air slots are. You will get plenty of air
flow and that is way bigger than any fan in any PSTwo.
My bro has played on my slimline ps2 for hours and nothing has happened to it, what i think you should do is just use a adapter and connect one of those 8cm fans to it, then face it to the ps2, it keeps it cool, i use to do this when i got it coz i wasnt sure either, but after some time i realized it wasnt really needed.
By the way G101, there is a fan in the slimline, and the slimline doesnt get screwed if you put a laser fix in it, it doesnt have anything to do with a shortage of voltage.
