I noticed that this problem started when i had a burner that went out it was a tdk but ever since i've had the same problem. when i'm copying a disk i noticed that it' only reads at half speed. with the tdk burner it stayed at 100% and i wasn't having any problems burning or copying. since then i've put in three different burners. A lite-on dvdshow-1693s a memorex dvd 16+/-dl4rw1d2 and a dynex 16x dvdrw dual layer but the problem persists a read error. or sometimes a write error. i tried to slow down the speed when burning or copying but to no avail. if the movies do finish sometimes the movie would either freeze up or skip. any info would be very helpful.

all i can say is i had all kinds of audio/video problems
when using Nero to do movies. And even thought this is the
PS2 section and not the right one for this post i will try to help.
Have you tried DVD Shrink? it is made to do movies and you can
either compress them and leave all the extra's in, or re-author
it and take them out burning just the movie for best quality.
Make sure it is not set to use Nero for burning or it will.
It is free and works well.
If you don't mind spending money then you best chioce would
be Slysofts combo of AnyDVD and CloneDVD
AnyDVD runs in the system tray and removes protections
and Clone DVD burns them. Those are what i use but some
People don't want to spend the $60 for the combo.
then DVD Shrink is their best choice.

You need to provide your Nero's error log, copy and paste, then post in here. So we can tell what's the real issue you're having. To get your Nero log go here: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NerHistory - and now remember to take out/edit your Nero serial numbers that has 1A23XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX or 1A20XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX or 5C80XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Things to check are:

DMA - is it Off or On, or is it in PIO mode?
Firmware - make sure all your burner's firmware are up-to-date with latest firmware
Media - don't use cheap media, read the official media sticky thread
Burning speeds - don't burn any higher than 8X, 4X is highly recommended.
Size of MB - for dvd movies, most members recommend to do a custom of 4360MB only and yes... that is highly recommended as well.
