I'm trying to back up some data (5 movie files) onto a DVD using Nero.
When I burn to the disk, everything works until the Verification and it then says "Verification Failed"
When I explore the disk, it says the files are on there but it will not open them.
Any ideas?

Hi there,
I think I have read in the past, that Nero fails a lot when doing a check after burn.
Most people don't use it !
Comments on this anyone ?
They burn, make sure the burn was successfull, then check the media with:
VSO Inspector / DVDInfoPro
They both do a sector by sector scan etc...

Hi again,
Provide us with a full Nero log. (Remove your serial # on top)
We should have all the needed details in there.
Burner model, firmware revision, what media (Media ID) you are using, what speed you are burning at etc...

Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG, Media Type ID: M01, Product revision number: 0 You are using the bottom of the barrel blank Disk.. Probaly Memorex.. try some better media (Blank disks) maybe Verbatiun or TY, etc. Do some searches for good media here at AD..
For me it's Verbatium, for life....

That isn't a DVD+/-R recorder, it's DVD RAM.
And you are using DVD+R and it's CMC mag so it's not good even if you have a DVD+/- recorder.
Am i wrong here?

We could argue all day on the quality of your medium, here at AD there are numerous members who all agree through past experience as to the poor quality of your medium We have offered help that you obviously wont accept...the media is CRAP and you dont have a DVD Burner. BYE

They are not good, that is what we've been trying to tell you. It doesn't matter what company is distributing it, it is MANUFACTURED by CMC Mag. Which is one of the biggest manufacturers of DVD/CD in the world but is also one of the worst. Bad media, i.e CMC Mag, will crap out on you about 2 years from now (which is why reviews are worthless when it comes to media) and you will have to rebackup. And you have to burn at the slowest possible speed or you will get errors very easily. Here is a good thread on Bad media.

But keep in mind what i said earlier about DVD RAM, of course I could be wrong. Is this the first movie you've ever done?
