Ok so I backed up my very first game - SSX On Tour.
I used -
Verbatim DVD-R 4x
burned at 2x
And used Disk Utility on a Macintosh

I burned succesfully and my ps2 recognizes it as a game but the problem is the screen goes crazy, it's almost like it's scrolling up and down really fast. I can still click on menus and things though.

Since I did have a little success burning though, maybe there's a problem associated with the scrolling problem? Using the Disk Utility software shouldn't be a problem should it? Can anyone help me out? Thanks a lot!

what type of TV are you using? are you using a PAL or NTSC TV set?
And is your game image a PAL or NTSC game?

If your TV and your game image does not match you'll have to use a PAL/NTSC image patcher to a Y-fix.

I had the same problem with a game once. It was PAL, I had an NTSC TV. I just patched it for a Y-fix, took 2 seconds, game ended up playing perfect after that.

Computer Specs:
AMD Athlon64 3700+ (oc'ed to 2.5Ghz)
2gb OCZ premier RAM
ASUS A8R-MVP motherboard
two ATi X1600 Pro 512mb each running in Crossfire
Thermaltake Silent Purepower 500W PSU
LG DVD +/-RW drive 4120
ACER 19" LCD 1916B
On-Board 5.1 w/ Logitech X530 speaker system
