Help needed, can play backup CD but not DVD

Hello, I've read many other threads, but have not found a solution to my problem. I recently got Swap Magic 3.6, and i have the original version 1 of the playstation. I can load up games that are on CD's just fine, but with the DVD-R's they dont load. I used DVD-Decryptor to burn it, no programs were running at the time, and it was burnt at X 1 speed. Is it possible my version 1 playstation just cant read burnt discs because its too old? Or was it a bad choice of media? Thanks.

oh right, my DVD's are LEGACY DVD-R8X25CB

I've tried with rougly 6 burnt dvd's so its either my ps2 being crappy, or bad media. I'd appreciate any input.

It should read DVD-R just fine, but not +R
i have never heard of that brand of DVD so i do not know
if they are any good and could be the cause of your problems
DVD-R 8X speed work best for me
burn them at 4X with DVD Decrypter
TDK,Philips,Taiyo Yuden,Verbatim, & Ritek
those are the most widely used DVD's for backing up games.
With swap magic are you using a flip top or slidecard?
have you tried searching the net for firmware updates for
you burner?

I'm using the slidecard, and I know i'm using it properly because i can get the ps2 games that i burned onto CD's to work just fine. I'll look to see if i can update the firmware on my burner, i appreciate the advice.
