I recently bought 15 DVD's on Ebay from Scotland. I can't play them on my pc, nor my DVD player connected to the TV. The screen reads " cannot play.Out of Area". The DVD player connected to the TV is a six month new Sony. I was wondering if you have information as to how I might remove or change the area codes on these DVD's. They are one of a kind and quite important to me. Thanks in advance. johns51

Rip with say DVD Decrypter and then burn. It won't change the fact that they will be PAL though. TV's in the US as a general rule can't handle PAL, so it would only work if your player can convert to NTSC.

Well you could convert and re-author as NTSC. Good chance to replace your evil Sony hardware anyway.

Thank you very much for the info, but I just bought the Sony DVD Player. Maybe I'll get a Universal player anyways, because I may buy more DVD's from Ebay in the near future, from who knows where! Again. Thanks! John
