I've used hdldumb many many times before but I got tired of taking the hdd in and out so i decided to try via network. but I couldn't get it to work so I went back to the old fashioned way and nothing happened. I put the hdd in as usual, double clicked on hdldumb and nada. It's running b'c I can see it in the task manager (Windows XP) and it will run w/o the hdd in there. I've also tried WinHIIP, hdldump, new versions of everything. Hdldump and WinHIIP recognize the drive but if you click on it or try and get the TOC or inject something the program freezes. Also I can play games off of the hdd using HDloader .07c exploited. What's the deal w/ not being able to write to it? I'm dying here I have like 5 new games I want to play that i got from my brother and just .iso'd them!!!

I just tried to install via hdloader and that doesn't work either

Sounds like you corrupted you drive man. You can try to repair it with winhiip and it's scan/repair feature, but if that doesn't work, you're screwed.

You know that networking games really sucks... I had the same problem a few months back. Not only did i lose all my (nonbackedup)badass import games, but I did it at less than a MB/s. So it took me over an hour to install a game, and i got screwed. Networking is so slow, it's not even worth doing.

There is a way to install games called fablink i believe... I've been dieing to try it, but just havn't had the time to research. You transfer games through usb! Supposed to be reliable and fast. Something that has been stopping from trying it out also is that you either need a TV next to your computer or a long ass usb cable. I don't want to move my TV and I can't afford a 20 foot long $60 usb cable. I'm a college kid and I can barly have enough burrito money here :\. And i'll stop ranting...

Anyways, this could be a feasible alternative to networking for you.

Thanks for the info I'll try that. I think that every time I used winhiip and i select the drive it freezes so I don't think I'd be able to use it. Is there a way I can format the drive w/ windows? I don't care about losing the games I just don't want to have to buy a new hard drive!

Yeah windows has a nice tool where you can format your hdd. The thing is that the time it takes to format depends on the size of your drive. You'll need to format with windows first, then Winhiip.

I had done this before and I remember it wasn't exactly straight forward... I'll do my best to give you the steps, but if something is missing or sounds weird, use your best judgement.
1)You'll need to open up your control panel. One method is Start/Settings/Control Panel.

2)If you have Windows XP, switch to classic view and open Administrative Tools/Computer Management.

3)Within Computer Management there is a program tree that you'll need to expand if it is not already expanded. Expand Storage and click once on Disk Management

Now this is where the fun I don't remember stuff begins :)!
1)You will have your installed hardware on the bottom, and your PS2 should same something weird like "non-dianamic disk" or something. Pretty much it will stick out. You can tell what it will be because you can see the size on the HDD labeled.

2)Right click on it and it should say to convert it or something. It might prompt you to select a drive letter also. Pretty much just go with whatever it asks you.

3)You may also need to format the drive. The pc might offer to do this for you, but if it doesn't, right click on the drive and select format. Choose quick format, because full will take like 4 hours or something stupid like that. Also it doesn't matter if you choose to format as NTSC or FAT32. Go with what your heart tells you ;)

4)In the end, your formatted HDD will show in the top portion of the window and be labeled as healthy.

Now that it is formatted, you can either use Winhiip to make it PS2 format or your PS2 itself. You're good to go from here on out.
