ok here we go i have chirstmas with the kranks got it at wal-mart put it in my drive and use dvd shrink on it and it sayed that dvd shink encountered an error and can not continue failed ti read file e\ the parameter is incorrect so went and got one off a neighbor who got his at bestbuys and it sayed the same thing so s went to the video store reant 1 and still the same thing i am useing anydvd in the background i even turn it of and just tryed useing dvdshink still wont work ok so i got dvd decrypter and it sayed i/o error device [1;0;0] hp dvd writher740b dc24 (e) (ata) scsistatus:0x02 interpretation:check conndition cob:28 00 00 33 eb a0 00 00 01 00 interpretation read (10)-sector 3402656 sense are 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0e oo oo oo oo 21 oo oo oo oo oo interpretation: logical block address out of range the hp dvd writer is new got it about a month agao dvdshrink it updated so is anydvd so and i am useing nero to burn with and it is up to dated 6.6 so can anyone help me please thanks

I guess I just got lucky and found this other thread about Christmas with the Kranks right on the first page of the DVD Shrink forum. Go figure.
Anyway...AnyDVD just updated this week so make sure you have an updated copy and you should have no more woes. Heres the link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/252708
I just love trying to read big long sentences with no punctuation.

Glad to get back to ya ole buddy.
When ripping with DVD Decrypter make sure you are in File mode like so:
Then you may proceed to DVD Shrink for compression or Nero Recode2, whichever you prefer, after which you can burn your disc with the appropriate software.

The error code you received "logical block address out of range" means the software is using a command which is not supported by the drive.
Since you did not punctuate so we can figure out the error codes you had a read problem @ "sector 3402656 ". If that is a read error then the disk could have a bubble, faulty mastering error or needs to be cleaned
It would have been nice if you had copied the DVDD Log and pasted it here for us to look at.

Please, to make it easier for those of us willing to help you, do not leave out the punctuation marks that belong in the sentences. When you leave them out it is near impossible to decifer the individual thoughts and concepts that you are trying to purvey.
Try ripping it with DVDFab.
Try making the back up with CloneDVD and AnyDVD (21 day free trial at http://www.slysoft.com)

I did "Christmas with the Kranks" with:
1. Just DVD Shrink 3.2 by itself
2. DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, then opened files with DVD Shrink
3. DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.5.2 then opened files with DVD Shrink
4. DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, then MenuShrink, then VobBlanker, then DVD Shrink. (After doing that, the DVD fit on a single layer disc with no compression. This DVD contains both Widescreen and full screen.)

harrumph!. dvd shrink nor dvd decrypter would even analyse this movie, never mind encode it. so tried my first stab at dvdfab express (not tried it before and i don't have anydvd). dvdfab express sorted it, and dvd shrink has just finished it's thing..

Can someone help me with information on how to copy christmas with the kranks. I have tried many things like AnyDVD, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter and Fabdvd. and nothing seems to work. please help. I would appreciate it alot.

Welcome to the forum,
You can use DVDFAB Decrypter to rip the movie to HD and then use Shrink to compress.
DVDFAB Decrypter: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdf...
If you have tried AnyDVD and if DVDFAB Decrypter can not rip the Disk ( you get error codes etc. ) then usually it is a bad disk as it has faulty mastered ( bubble or bad press) sectors
