I just bought a dvd recorder (to record television shows and movies from Showtime).

Anyway, I have only used Taiyo Yuden dvd-r when I burn movies on my computer and I have had no problems (I only buy them from SuperMediaStore or meritline.com because I don?t want to risk getting fake media.

Now I want to buy some rewritable media for recording weekly television shows (4x) and I was coming to this forum for advice.

Please give me examples of what you have had great success with. I see that both of the above websites are having great deals right now so I was planning on buying some media, so if anyone can tell me exactly what type of rewritable dvd-rw they would buy, I?d appreciate the help.

By the way, I assume a small quantity (maybe just 6 disks) is all that I would need since I will be using these disks during the week and watching shows on the weekend and then I can burn on the same disks again?

Specifically, I came across the following deals which I am considering:

Ritek RiData G04 4X DVD-RW Blank Media (Ridata Branded) 4.7GB DVDRW Rewritable Discs (DRW-474-RDCB25) - a 25 pack for $19.50

Good deal?

snorkel, OfficeMax this week has a ten-pack of Verbatim DVD+RW discs in jewel boxes for $8.99. I'd go with that since you don't need many anyway.

Thanks but I only use DVD-R so i was planning on just using DVD-RW (as opposed to +rw)

Unless you can convince me that this concern is not an issue. i just bought the dvd recorder and it says to use dvd-r

If the recorder say dash format, stick with the dash format. Most of those recorders are single format only.My cyberhome recorder is plus format only.

I scoured the local on sale dash rw media and the only good deal:Under a buck apiece is Office Depot 5 packs with jewel cases for $4 a pack. Usually Office depot has quite a few maxell sales and the -rw's are a pretty good deal.

There's some good deals on -rw riteks at those stores you listed. Also throw in rima.com. I haven't heard of fakes on rw media.

Avoid memosux rw's. Fuji/maxell/ritek should be very good. I've got some tks +rw's that are pretty good, but I wouldn't buy the r's,LOL

If your recorder can burn to DVD+RWs, use them instead. DVD-RWs only have an advantage in video editing. DVD+RWs do not need to be finalized and they will work in other DVD players or PC DVD drives. Most DVD-RWs will only work in your own recorder and need to be finalized. Verbatims are pretty good rewritables, but I mostly have Ridatas. I bought 100 of them for $30 from Newegg about 6 months ago. But if you want quality, and since you only need a handful, I'd recommend you buy Verbatims. But be careful of the speed rating. Most DVD recorders can't handle the newer 8X DVD+/-RWs, only the slower 4X and 2.4X. It should say so in your manual.
