The following brands are available where I live, I'd like to ask for your advice on which ones to use or avoid. I'll be using them for PS2 games and DVD videos for my player. I also included prices to give ideas (price for one media).

Maxell ($0.67)
Verbatim ($0.69)
Versatile ($0.38)
Iomega ($0.39)
TDK ($0.55)
Nortech(NT) ($0.35)
Cursor ($0.39)
Imation (forgot the price)

I searched the forums a bit and saw Maxell and Verbatim is recommended but no idea on the rest..

Verbatim and Maxell are the onlu discs that you have listed that are any good. You don't have Sony available? That's odd. Those prices seem kind of high, also. Just where are you? If you're in North America, Wal Mart will have Sony and their Maxell prices will be better.

Where do you live?

Do you have an Office Depot nearby? Office Depot branded media is very good.

You can order TY's for .44 to .50 ea. over the internet.

Maxell ($0.67) 8x=Hitachi/Ritek/Ricohjpn/Cmag
Verbatim ($0.69) MCM=Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.

Good stuff,Way too much $$$ unless they are full-hub printables.

I'd take either one in either format. You have to be cautious on the maxell and fuji.Look for the spindles/jewel case packs that say Made in Japan! The taiwanese dash format maxell's have been getting some cmags amongst them.Notice 4 different manufacturers between both maxell 8x formats, huge quality difference and the price will usually be the same!

Sony has some great media in the 1x-8x speed range.Beware of their slower 4x speed-older media.

Now the others on your list: Still too much and more chances for problems.Avoid them like the plague!

TDK dash use to be pretty good, but their quality is slipping big-time.
TDK plus: Too much chance to get cmags.
Imation: Use to be very good quality, till they outsourced them to cheaper/crappy manufacturers.
I have no clue on the others in that list.

Which format do you prefer?

The quality can vary between 1 brand name and both its formats. The price difference on the net is also quite a bit.The dash is usally cheaper than the plus.

Thanks for the replies.

I live in Turkey. The online shops here sell mostly same brands I listed here. I just checked them and they also sell Sony and Philips but they're more expensive then Verbatim or Maxell so I'll pass.

I used Verbatim and Versatile so far and haven't had any problems but I'll pay attention to your advices and stick to Maxell or Verbatim.

If you have anything more to add I'm listening :)

Thanks for the all help!
