officemax is good for media..
best buy usually has sales on verbs...
verbs and ty's are the only thing that comes near my burner..
ty's would be like made in japan from fujifilm

i just dropped about $450 on media within the last week~ but, this is all about "outsourcing" to my friends to buy the Verbatim DVD+R DLs 10 pack spindle @ $19.99 from Office Max in various states and locale on my behalf, of which i then pay them back before they ship it to me~ :) that is a good price if you are looking for DL media~
also, anything in the Fujifilm that is MADE IN JAPAN for the 8x dvd-r/dvd+R at this point in time will be manufactured by Taiyo Yuden, which in MY opinion is simply the best stuff out there...
also 8x DVD+R Sony brand MADE IN JAPAN again is also Taiyo Yuden media~ :)
i personally no longer buy Verbatims anymore as i still have quite a bit of 8x/16x DVD+R stocked up ( MCC003 & MCC004 media IDs respectively) that are great~ good media there too usually found @ Best Buy for me locally~
good luck

Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

@unjust
i also got a single 10 pack on raincheck, i have no idea when they will get more in, most likely later in the month? the manager there at my local store said he would call me when more are in...or to check by calling periodically during the month~ :)
i rarely buy Sony media, the 8x DVD+R MADE IN JAPAN are definitely Taiyo Yuden made, but, i think the last time i picked up some was when Best Buy was having a sale on the 50 pack for like $19.99 or around that price~ :) i have WAYYYYYYYY too many Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+R media now, so i'm focusing MORE on the Verb DLs at this point.
@treezy
congrats, i have used MANY of those RitekG05s, mine happen to be under the Ridata Ritek name, but, it's the same thing~ :) happy burning

Looks like everyone's 'blown the budget' this monyh on media. Let's see .. 1000 16x Verbs from OD .. 400 OD brand Riteks .. 100 DL and 100 +RW Verbs from Office Max .. 500 (all they had) Fuji/Yudens from KMart .. I'm dead meat when the wife gets the bank statement, but at least my supply is repleanished!

LOL catfreak, that's why you should start a "emergency media relief fund" similar to the one that i have...my wife doesn't know about it YET~ :) how you would deposit funds into there, i don't know..maybe skim $10-$20 every few days and put it into your media fund? that's how i do it...it DOES add up over time though~ had it going for hmm...about 4 months now, i put anywhere from $40-$100/week, depending on how much spending cash i have for that week...so, it DOES add up over time~ :)
keep the media plentiful and fully stocked, docTY will be a happy camper~ :)

If I can find a good deal on the Fuji or Sony online, is there any way to be assured that they are MIJ (TY) before I order?
Do i just have to buy and hope for the best?
Thanks.

@thelox
i like the "shout outs" that you give Verb. @ TY in ur sig, looks good~ :)
i believe i read somewhere that the Dynex brand used Ritek as their manufacturer in the 8x DVD+R made in taiwans that code out as RitekR03, as well as the DL media DVD+R DL also the Ritek DL coded ones as per my sig...i COULD BE TOTALLY WRONG, so don't quote me on that one, i don't remember as lately my memory is not as good as it once was...but, in all the other speeds and formats, i believe Dynex uses crappy manufacturers, much like Memorex~so i wouldn't recommend you or anyone else running out and loading up on the Dynex brand~ :)
DEFINITELY STAY AWAY from Dynex in the 4x rated speed variety...nothing but crap manufacturers all around~ :)
@gottawin
the sony TYs 8x DVD+R MIJ was on sale awhile ago, but all those stores (Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, Compusa, etc) run sales on media pretty frequently, just keep an eye out for them in your weekly circular/newspaper if you MUST get the Sony branded TYs :)

I know that Sony is on alot of member's "S%@T" list right now, But when they're on sale I rather pick those up because they have a better surface for inkjet prints.. .. .

@gunard
Thanks for the reply. Thought that might be the case.
@Gottawin
I get the Sunday sale papers on Saturday and starting tomorrow, Best Buy has 50 pack SONY -/+R on sale for $17.99. They are regularly $39.99. Doesn't say the speed in the ad.
@Kivory
Best Buy has 10-pack Verbatim DL DVD+R for $19.99 ($15.00 instant rebate). Don't know if you are still looking for these.
Office Depot has Maxell 50 pack -/+R for $15.99 -- regularly $39.99. Once again, can't tell the speed from the ad.
