What is your freeway speed limit?

I was just wondering what the speed limit for the freeway is around the country and world for that matter.
Here in Sacramento, California it is 75 mph raised from 65 about 3 or 4 years ago.

our speed limit here in south australia is 110kmph on the country roads but ive managed to get a car going up to 160kmph.
xbox 1.1 80GB hdd xecuter 2 unleash x dash(possible upgrade in future) very old pc(new one should be coming soon)
bottle of bacardi(depending on how drunk i am sometimes the bottles empty)
packet of smokes(until i smoke them all)

we have 4 interstates that run through my city, (south central texas) and they range from 55 to 70 mph.
of course no one follows the rules, just flows with traffic. so speeds are always at least 10mph faster.

Here in the Washington D.C. area it's mainly 55 mph - a few highways are 65 mph. But as Sammy Hagar used to sing I can't drive 55 . Hmmm.. guess that's why my insurance is so high!

Here in LA, not louisiana, it's 65 but you rarely ever get to go that fast. lol. But like gear79 said, it's just a matter of traffic. And I think you are allowed to go 5-10 mph above the limit.

Yea I am retarded...I said 75 in my first post but I meant 65. It was raised TO 65 3 or 4 years ago from 55 not from 65 to 75, I don't know what I was thinking.
Some of you guys still have to go 55??? That is like a crawl. The fast lane around here usually goes about 80.
I don't think they should have speed limits on the freeway. I think the traffic can flow at any speed. You will always have the people who want to go that fast in the fast lane and then every lane over goes about 5mph less each time so everyone can pick their lane. You should only get a ticket on the freeway if you are weaving in and out of traffic like a crazy person. But if each lane could pick its speed then people wouldnt have to weave in and out. I'm not saying this for the streets because that would be chaos, but for the freeway all your a doing is going straight with no lights or anything so you could easily have people going 90 and not have an increase in accidents. The only real way to get in an accident on the freeway is to change lanes into someone or not pay attention to the person braking in front of you.

I can see how you can see it that way, but be honest, do you really think there wouldn't be an increase in accident if there were no limits? People drive the way they do for a reason, there wouldn't be any hesitation to race, there would be jsut as much chaos as there would be on the streets.

i like it when i get that stupid little honda with a coffee can for a muffler zip by my instigating a race. now lets be real here, i'm packin 300+ horse, and this little rice burner wants some V-8 for lunch. (i know there are some fast rice patties here) but the majority are kids with a few bucks for coffee can exhaust and GO-FAST stickers, and they all wanna race me.

I see what your saying but it would still be hard to race on the freeway. There are way too many cars and you would have to be insane to try and race on the freeway. And to race you would no doubt have to weave in and out of traffic which would be ticketable. In a perfect world it would work. :)

in Connecticut i live in fairfield county the highest speed limit is 55mph but i drive 80mph i hate it when those soccer moms or those old drivers doing like 65 on the left lane. In these scenerio most of time i tailgate the shit out of them and blowing my horn, when dark watch out for my high beams.
the other part of connecticut the highest is 65mph.

Weaving in and out of traffic here is called 'agressive driving' and yes is ticketable. But I tell you what it stops no one. I have seen quite a few 'races'- people going at least 90-100 mph weaving in and out. Accidents - yes - probably one of the main causes here. Someone always trying to beat the next guy. I may drive fast but I stop at the point of trying to beat someone - not worth it.

plus one good thing in CT is that there's hardly any state troopers in the highway
i remember one time when i went up to Mass and it was like freakin 4AM god fnckin shit there's cops in every corner, and guess what i was doin like 83mph in a 65mph highway and there's like hardly any car also i was speed in a construction zone i got a freakin $330 ticket luckily my friends split the ticket.
I mean like they are not even workin at 4am and they double my ticket it's just plain and fxxk up.

state troopers here are a dime a dozen, being the largest state too, they have jurisdiction over all law enforcement cops here. so they frequent city and rural areas.
plus construction here is an on going thing, so fines are always double.

hehe. I am lucky that I live in the Northern Territory in Australia. We have unlimited speed zones just outside of town. People often ask me "whats the speed limit up here" & I say "How fast can ya car go". hehe. I have had my car doing 240Kmh on a main road in town before though, and 160Kmh though the back streets of the city.

65-75mph (100-120kph) on highways, here in Quebec, no one here give a rat's a*s about are safety, and I love it!
School Zone: 20kph (12mph)
Busy Streets: 40kph (25mph)
Regular Streets: 60kph (38mph)

Rode my GSX-R 750 across Germany, nearly all the Autobahns I went on had no speed limit. A few bits are restricted, approaching certain junctions had 85mph limits.
Cruising for hundreds of miles at 140mph is awesome. Managed to go at 160mph for about 10-15mins (managed to cover about 40 miles!). Couldn't get my head below the windscreen due to my tankbag, hence it was rather uncomfortable!
France is good for high speed cruising. The Peages (toll motorways) were VERY quiet in the countryside. I've been to the South of France twice on GSX-R750s. Going up & down the mountains is amazing. You have to watch for the Gendarmes, they have occasional purges on the times from front A to B. (when you join the peages you get a ticket with a time on it, so when you get to the next toll booth, the Gendarmes check the times & work out your average speed).

Yeah isn't Gemany great!! no speed limits, but germany has pretty small streets compared to some other countries so I can see why they don't care as much. I'm not saying all the streets are small but in general.

I could only manage to squeeze 172mph out of her on a couple of occasions. Never got to 175 though......GODDAMMITT! It was sweet though!
Cruising at 140+ makes 100 seem positively slow, you just get so used to high speed.

I've taken my current car (Mitsubishi Lancer GLI Coupe) up to 180Kmh through a decent ammount of traffic. It handles pretty well and goes alright considering it is a 1.2L. Needs a turbo in it though.
We MUST go faster.
