'Verbatim TY' (only in UK at moment as far as i know, though most likely all around Europe too. it's the best of the 2 breeds, Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden -

I like Taiyo Yuden made Sony & Fuji DVD+R (MIJ)and of course Verbatim DVD+R media best.
Verbatims are in my opinion the Best- Made in Taiwan Media out there.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Hi all,
I have been to Best Buy and Staples but can only find Verbatim, Sony and Fuji all made in Taiwan.
Are the Verbatim and Sony made in Taiwan still okay?

Verbatum's are made in taiwan and are one of the best medias available. They are almost all I use. Don't buy the sony's or fuji's unless they are made in japan.

SONY, made in JAPAN, made in TAIWAN, yada yada yada, It does not matter I use both to unflawed recording. Who here has a movie they backed up to a SONY 8X DVD-R +R disc made in TAIWAN that would not play? (plays bad). Since most of us know read errors can be reflective of a badly written or corrupted file compounded by bad disc media. It's funny how SONY blank DVD media is realisticly is the most accessible high quality blank DVD media in North America i.e. your local electronics retailer and all this other super media most talked about isn't (Online purchase only) and instead of making a helpful suggestion you get "Not if they were made in TAIWAN" Says who's actual recording experience? As if the objective is to endorse or push the product for sale above all else and not be sincere about the SONY blank media quality actually being great if not better than any other quality blank disc media mentioned. Give us an intance i.e. forum members bad experience or something. On this claim, just a supposed bad test scan don't do it for me. Oh and did I forget to mention that the SONY 8x DVD-R & +R are on sale 50 disc spindle $17.99 Reg. $39.99:)

EXCUSE ME! I agree that I have not had any bad experiences with Sony media regardless of where it was made but I have read where others have had problems with the taiwan made sony media but not with the sony made in japan. Definately stay away from the fuji made in taiwan as there is a chance of those being made by prodisc especially the DVD-R format. The sony media is not any better or worse than verbatum (MCC) or TY as some of it is made by TY. Sorry, didn't mean to get your goat.
