DVDX Encoding to AVI Takes Too Long - Faster Settings Anyone?

Can someone tell me which of the codecs in dvdx I should use and at what settings to give me the best quality fastest avi rips? The current codecs and settings I've played around with either give me a long encoding time, a useless avi that is over 2 gig and cannot be opened or small, pixelated rips.

I've googled for it extensively and searched the afterdawn forum.

Thanks in advance for any help.
