Only want to buy one software to backup my own DVD's Understand Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 easier to use than Nero. Has anyone used Roxio with DVD shrink to backup their DVD's? Want to use the software with my camcorder and digital camera as well. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

..."to copy rented movies for homeuse?"

No help for pirates. We have standards at AD! Why would you even post that!! Or are you justice dept or MPAA plant?

Dear Whisperer...sorry if I offended you. AD site is full of help on using DVD Shrink to do what I am wanting to do, so doesn't appear to be an issue on the site. A pirate sells their dvd's....not my intention! Not made of money so trying to get some advice as to whether Roxio Creator 8 will be a good software for me to buy.

@weezy

Recommend that you edit your origonal post and delete or rephrase your intention to something like "backup my own DVD's".

No problem, but you really need to edit your first post. Click on the image of the head on the right hand side of the bar above your first post and edit the question. If a mod see's that they will come down on you.

As for easy programs: CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD. See the guides in my signature.

thanks 9mmruger1; didn't know how to do what you suggested; will try again; so Roxio and dvd shrink; isn't totally the way to go; I really should get DVD2 or AnyDVD to do what I want to do?
Thanks again

No problems weezy sooner or later one of our Mods will take care of it, just in case you're interested you can always download a free copy of DVD Decrypter and use it conjunction with DVD Shrink...no $$$$ to outlay, if you're interested I can give you all the links as to where to get them and how to use them

gwendolin,
Just noticed you made Senior Member. That was fast, or am I remembering wrong?... when did you start at AD? Congrats ... your crown & knights cross from Franklin Mint should arrive in a few days!

Best regards,
Whisperer

BTW: some of you probably think I was too blunt to weezy, but I don't want AD to get shut down. Any post that blatant sets off my BS detector as far as the powers-that-be trolling to gather info against both posters to sue and forums for cease & desist action. One can't just make up their own definition of piracy ("A pirate sells their dvd's..."). Copying rented DVDs is CLEARLY illegal. All most of us want here is the freedom to exercise our fair use rights, as far as copyright laws & existing precedents, to backup property we paid for in order to protect our own personal investments. Rome should not be able to dictate-away those rights which we already have. What someone else might do in private is not my business or the law's business without PC but it would seem that posting such activity would give the authorities PC for a bust or evidence for a suit, right?

Hey folks.

I want to start by saying that I'm not trying to rag on anyone but this thread is a prime example of why we added the offensive post report feature. weezy asked a legitimate question, albeit poorly worded, and I think he got ragged on a bit much. Again I'm not pointing fingers or or trying to give anyone a hard time but next time lets just report it and let a mod get it all over with in one shot so we can all do what we're here to do - help nice folks like weezy :)

I left the other thread opened,
