I have been using FujiFilm DVD+R/8X/30count, then I purchased FujiFilm DVD+R 8X/100count. The Fuji 30count has an ID of YUDEN000-T02-00 (Taiyo Yuden) and the Fuji 100count has an ID of Ritek-R03-02. The only visual differences in the discs are 1)30count comes in various colors and 100count discs are silver 2)30count are made in Japan and 100count are made in Taiwan and 3)the codes on the inner hub are different. Other than that, the discs are identical (all the labeling is the same). MY QUESTION:Are the discs the same standard wise and should I buy one type of Fuji over another type of Fuji?

The made in Japan discs from Fuji are the best DVD+R media you can find. The others are not bad, but Taiyo Yuden are far better.

These are still qaulity media. You may have overpaid for them. For the exact same Ritek-r03-02 MID code, you could have gotten the office depot +8x discs on sale this week for 25 cents each!
Those yuden000-T02 are my benq's main diet. They love them, but they also love those Office Depot riteks and both perform near perfection.I'll take any of them any day of the week.
Ricohjpn-R02 is another manufacturer of the Fuji +1x-8x,made in taiwan manufacturer. It's also a pretty good quality manufacturer.
It's those dash format fuji, made in taiwan that you have to watch out for. Taiyo yuden-Ty-G02 on the japanese, fujifilm-03 and prodisc on their dash taiwanese media.Huge quality difference between the tys and other 2 manufacturers.

Thanks for the replies. After posting message, I noticed that I have a some FujiFilm DVD+R/8X/30count/MIT/ID of Ritek-R0302. Therefore I purchased two different manufactured DVDs that were packaged identically. DVDs were purchased at Staples when prices were $8.?? a spindle. I guess it all comes down to were it is manufactured. I will try SMS.com next.

Staples/wal-mart/and office depot do this all the time on: Maxell/sony/and fuji brands of the 8x speed.I dig around for the japanese spindles.
I just got back from Office depot.Their buy 1/get 1 50 pack spindle sale resulted as a heck of a deal for me.They only had 1 last 50 pack of +8x OD media,so you had to get an identical spindle for free. The associate let me substitute some maxell +8x,made in japan for the free spindle. 50 ritek-ro3 and 50 Maxell-002-00 hitachis for $25

I don't know about you or other people, but my top priority on Taiyo Yuden, Fuji and Maxell media is "Made In Japan", unless it's Verbatim then it's good with "m.i.t."
In contrast, I prefer the Fuji "m.i.j" over any other places. In fact, the Fuji (m.i.j) is manufactured by Yuden Co. Ltd. and it is a Taiyo Yuden media indeed - especially, the YUDEN000T02.

You got lucky with those taiwanese fuji's with the ritek MID code. Some other taiwanese fujis to watch out for is fujifilm-03 and I believe prodisc.Far inferior than the fuji tys and riteks, but the taiwanese riteks and prodiscs will be difficult to tell until you open them up.
I burn a ton of ritek-r03 and yuden000-T02 and they perform near perfecto on both my benq 1620s!I bought another 50 pack of the Office depot +8x Ritek-r03s so I can try them on my Benq 1640 and I expect the same result as my 1620s.Only time will tell which one is better between the tys and riteks.

I'm with Saugmon on this one. I love the Ritek R03-02's. They are excellent. I have used the Fuji's, maxells, and OD's with excellent results.
