GlueEater: Just like every sony sales form staples and bestbuy,those spindles will be all mixed up between those japanese and taiwanese spindles.

They should be 8x,and work near perfect from either japan or taiwan for my benq 1620s. I haven't seen any sony 16x speed yet,but maybe here in the near future?

The Best Buy price doesn't seem to be an online one for the Verb DLs at least. BB online lists the 10 pack as $34.99. Maybe they mark it down when you buy it? I will check the local store. I don't get a paper, so it may be an ad thing. Off to BB. Thanks for the heads up catfreak. The weekly sales listing of media posted here really helps me feed my burners media addiction. {and mine too :) burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnn baby burrrrrrrrrrrrrrn}

And, BTW ... the DL price is with an instant rebate
And, I've gotten two spindles of 25 16x Sony discs coding as SONYD21 .. I think that I bought them from Circuit City
I'm pretty sure that the BB Sony discs are 8x ..

BTW, guys, I was just able to place an online order with OfficeMax for these discs (i.e., the Verbatime DL ones). No more of that "limit 1" stuff. Still on backorder, but no limit to how many I could put in my basket. The price, however, did not reflect the sale price (still good all day today). I called and was told to complete the order and then call back in about 45 minutes for the price adjustment. I did this and was able to order 15 10-packs for 19.99 each with free shipping.

I work nightshift, so days and nights blurr together. The instant rebate is the way things should be. What is it with the mail in rebate to get your money back? A kickback to the USPS for postage?? Doesn't seem to make sense making you jump thru all those paperwork hoops, fill in this, cut out that, lick this...just to maybe get some money back... eventually.. one of these days, if ever... Instant rebate is the way to go. Should be a law or something. Oh, i see it's time to take my meds.. :)

Yeah, I even checked my local store this morning on his behalf, but I think he scored some out of state (sounds like a weed deal to me ;-)
I just received my confirmation e-mail from OM with the lower price, though still on BO, of course.

Oh, and MaxBurn, the reason for rebates is simple: The vast majority of people who buy something with a mail-in rebate never bother to submit it. It's some ridiculous percentage like 80% DON'T send the thing in, no matter how much they're going to get back.

I think it's more that they forget than they just don't care, I mean part of a reason I choose something over the other is b/c of the price and the price is almost always affected my rebates now.

good info mrchub as i had to call in to Office Max too and place my order over the phone, the online price is reflecting $39.99, but, today is the LAST day for their Verb DL sale, i spoke to a very nice gentleman that put my order in, despite being backordered until the end of November, the way i look at it, i don't need the RIGHT NOW, this very minute, they could come in by X-mas time for all i care, i'm just grateful (thanks to you guys) for getting the 10-pack for $19.99...yes, sales tax was almost $20 for me, but free shipping closed the deal~ :)

See, chickens can be useful and taste good too! Glad to be there when Doc finally gets a good deal on Verb DLs at a good price. The power of the AD network strikes again.
I think with this many different media outlets selling these Verbs at 19.99 a ten pack, this may be a marketing test to see what the price of verb DL media should be. I don't know, but 2 bucks a disc is good, 1 buck a disc is even better, if Verbatim makes it. May be a sign of the future lower prices. Most movies can fit on a D5 if you only want the movie, but nothing beats a straight copy with no compression, though i really don't see any problems with movies shrunk by shrink.

You're right, but it depends on your TV to a great degree. For example, you have a kick-ass big HD display. Do you really want any unnecessary artifacts being exposed from Shrink? Granted, a good upconverting dvd player helps, but still.
BTW, guys, here's another thing: As I write this there is still an hour and forty-five minutes to get to your local Best Buy, clean them out at 34.95 each, then price match to their own sale within 30 days. BB closes at 10:00 pm, right?

mrchub you just keep coming up with great ideas! Unfortunately i cant grab too many at 34.95. (and BB is closed for me now) I know i am going to be able to get some at the 19.99 price as multiple stores are now advertizing Verb DLs at this price. Love that competition..

I think you're right. Actually, I'm counting on hub-printable Verb DLs for a buck fifty within two months (my perfect disc). No reason to buy now when the stock seems to still be falling!

@MaxBurn .. as far as the 'mail in rebate' thing .. the purpose behind this is to compile mailing lists .. the rebates enable the people behind these evil lists to obtain very specific buying information ... and these mailing lists are very expensive .. when I was in high school, I worked for a company that compiled and sold mailing lists .. all the executives had awesome houses and cars!
