Hello , Can anyone tell me is maxell dvd media any good? and what do you look for when buying it?? made in japan plus or minus??? any comments would be highly appriciated. /unjust

I had no problems with maxell in either 8X plus or minus all made in japan.I believe the Tawain made is Ritek should be good to.

I just left Office Depot picking up two packs of the Maxell's. I've had sucess with them in the past so why not. They were made in Tawain but so were the last ones. I saw the Sonys listed at BB but settled for the Maxell's. Not that they are supposed to be any better than Sony's, but for not I am not buying any products with the Sony brand.

the maxell's DVD-R are Ritek G05...i personally will be switching to the maxell dvd+r's so i can booktype them.

I hope you have success with those G-05 Riteks, my BenQ 1640 hates them. Coasters on everything overspeeded to 12x, and crappy scans on an 8x burn, but who knows maybe your burner will love them.

I read somewhere earlier this year Best Buy and other stores will eventually be doing away with mail-in rebates altogether. That is great news if true.

Doing away with mail in rebates would be great. Like catfreak posted, they are using this as a way to get mailing lists amongts other things. And as mrchub pointed out, most ppl don't even bother sending in for a rebate. Lick this..Id rather not. If you want to sell me something at a lower price, do it now, not later. I can use the savings now, not months later. Didn't take very long for that BB Verb DL sale price status to change to Sold Out. I still have a 10 pack, and a rain check for 2 more. Not many by other media users standards, but plenty for me for now. Don't want to get too big of a stash if the prices are coming down.

The staple's easy rebates are pretty convenient.Do it all on line in 5 mins and get the $ back in 4-5 weeks.You get to keep your original receipt and no stamps!

You beat me to it about the Staple's easy rebate. I just did one for my Epson R200 and it was so much easier than paper and mail.
I know that there have been times that I forgot to send in a rebate completely or delayed cause it annoys me and then I missed the deadline. I like my money and usually make a point to send for it.

Did you get the r-200 for $50 after that easy rebate? Heck of a price in that sale.
I picked up 1 of them for my dad so we can get a better price on ink cartridges at private.abacus. I saw them for that price last week and picked it up.I then go over to his house a couple days ago and he's writing on his full hub cds and I said like: Wait dad,use your printer not a sharpie, LOL

That's not the correct pic of the r-300 epson.The r-300 doesn't have the little view screen on the right side. That picture in the compusa site is from the epson r-320. Still a very good price for the r-300. The r-320 runs about $140-$170 not including rebates.
r-200: Basic photo and disc printer
r-300: Same as r-200,but has the card reader
r-320: Same as r-300,but with the view screen

Unfortunately no, I paid $70. I bought mine about two weeks before the sale you got yours.
The 300 for only $80....shame I didn't wait.
Still very happy with the results on my 200.
Do you think since my purchase was so close to the sale for yours that I could get them to honor the better price?
OT: How do I get rid of the "newbie" status? Not that I don't deserve this, as I take more than I give. Just curious.

I purchase my r-200 at sams club last spring.I researched this printer.I looked at the r300 and r320 at staples and office depot since they had them on display. I already have a card reader in my tower so the r300 didn't appeal to me.The 320 had the view screen,but I don't do a whole lot of photos-mainly case covers. It all depends on those bells and whistles so I stuck with the basic r200 and don't regret it.They all have the same specs for the printing and take the same ink cartridges.
Epson may be adding the view screen on the r300 and doing away with the r320?I'll have to check out staples this week.I'm only 400 yards away!
I don't know if they'll honor that sale price last week.It was an un-advertised sale and I'm not sure if it was my local staples or all staples stores sale.

Here's a thought on the whole rebate thing ! Besides the data mining ( generating mailing list !) There is what I call the wifey factor ! which may or may not apply equally to everyone ! But whether I am buying DVD media , CDR 's or computer parts My wife does'nt seem to mind it as much if I'm / we are getting a rebate . Personally I rather the instant rebate way myself but I don't make store policy ! And I generally only buy media when it's on sale & yes I know they have sales every week or nearly so but I don't buy weekly though I do check sales ! I try to catch sales on equipment too when possible ! The only thing to watch for is to make sure the store you buy from participates in the rebate program! I Bought Roxio EASY CD &DVD CREATOR 6 PLATINUM at samsclub once for xmas it was priced at 69.00 or so Roxio was running a 30 .00 rebate program ! I filled my paper work out mailed it in and recieved a postcard from roxio staing that my store samsclub does not participate in the rebate program therefore no rebate for me ! I was'nt happy but I got over it! just check first okay gang! Peace Happy BURNING - Happy THANKSGIVING CIAO!

The $50 price for the R200 may have been a local thing. I just did a search for pricing and rebates online at Staples and the best deal that I found was the $70 that I got unless I chose to buy a Kodak camara also.
If I went for the $50 rebate, then I would be crossing into the "wifey factor" as you put it BIGTOXY69. "Sure I spent a lot more money with buying the camara, but look at all the money I saved???"
I've heard that from my wife a few too many times.

At least your wife didn't do what my wife did: She threw my epson printer on the floor after I had to a couple of weeks! Now she's an ex-wife, LOL. I had her arrested and she had to go to anger management classes! LMAO
Printer still works,the lower eject tray is broken on one side and just hangs there. These epsons will take a beating.
