hey trying to connect to the internet wid modded ps2 uhhhhm. the only way i can think of doing this is to turn the modchip off but then u would need swap magic to boot the backups. if u have the original then just turn the chip off if u can. the thing that will get u is the DNAS (Dynamic Network Authentication System)scan. which scans your ps2 to see if it was modded or if its a back up game. im not sure if swap magic will work for online so dont take my word on that one. they should make something like xbconnect for the ps2 it was a good idea for xbox but untill then i dont think u'll be able to play backups online.

Swap Magic works fine online as long as the backup is properly DNAS patched. The only exceptions, to my knowledge, are SOCOM 2 and 3, which implement an extra layer of protection involving a login.

You can play backups online with a chip. You just have to patch them. Check this out: http://www.ps2nfo.com/on-line.html

Oh and if you have one of the slim PS2s, you don't need to buy a network adapter because they are already built in. You just need to get a CD from Sony.

Lol I bought a network adaptor now and when i go through the DNAS scan it give me an error (-402)

-402 sceDNAS2_SS_INVALID_MEDIA Invalid disc. "DNAS Error (-402) A PS2 disc information error has occurred." Incorrectly updated or missing patch. Possibly more than one update needed.

Hmm... I've been reading it, but I'm still confused a little bit. I actually will buy the game (MGS 3: Subsistence) so the problem of backing up games is not there, but how do I turn off my modchip? I don't know what mod chip I have. If it helps, I play my games by holding the reset button until it's red, then push it once more.
