I have been burning dvds for a week or so, but I have been using the Staples dvd+R 8x media. They burn fine and will play without problems in the Playstation 2, but I have 3 other dvd players (example being a JSI) and they will not play. I have been reading about tips on what to do, but I was wondering if these disks are ok or not. I have around 100 of them, so that's why Im not running out to buy any others, but if these suck then I have no choice I guess. Are these good or bad?
TayTay,
Welcome to the forum. Your problem is compatibility of the burned media to the Standalone Player. If your burner can bitset the DVD to DVD-Rom it might make it more compatible. Staples blank media is not the best but I would suggest you try Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell or Ritek to see if that is compatible.
Go to the site below and input the Players name and model# and see what other blank media they are using with that Player. Compare all of the Players and see if there is a common brand:

Staples uses some crappy manufacturers like cmags and moser bauer on majority of their media. This is one store brand name to avoid like the plague. Now if you want some great store brand media, get the Office Depot 8x.These are riteks and very good and can be had for around 25 cents each when on sale.
Get some japanese made fuji/sony/maxell/or some quality verbatim or taiyo yuden.Stand alones can have an easier time reading this quality media.Crappy media gives some stand alones problems during playback.
Another thing you may want to try, pick up some quality dash media and see how your stand alones react to them.
TayTay: What's the brand name and model # of your DVD-RW drive?
What programs are you using for the dvd backup process?
