I couldn't get it. It will do about 36% and that was it. I tried it with DVD decrypter and DVD shrink.

You may need AnyDVD running in the background. It's a free 21 day trial at:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/anyd...

You can also try DVD Fab Decrypter (free) located here:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdf...

It could also be the case the disk is dirty or scratched.

Also as another option, you can try a guide that I posted:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255980

Some people have been having problems getting the whole disc with this particular movie using AnyDVD or DVDFab with Shrink. Try out the guide if you have problems as well.

DVDFab Decrypter is a free program provided by the kind folks that put out DVDFab Express, Gold, and Platinum.

AnyDVD and CloneDVD is the winning combination for me! Burned a complete copy, which is playing on my standalone now, then burned a movie only copy (flawlessly) and lastly the special features on it's own disc....yes, flawlessly!

Since Fab will decrypt it and you have it on your hard drive, just Shrink and burn.. Use the following guide:
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/backup%20with%20DVDFABDecrypter,S...

Did you get lost when trying the Guide or did it not work? The guide is a bit hard.

I could take a look at the IFOs if you want. There may be a chance that I can help you out. Let me know if you want to got that route. Supposedly this is a "Ripguard" movie. This would be totally new protection.

If you decide on sending me the IFOs, I will PM you my E-mail address and you can do it like that.

Also, is this a different release, because people were backing it up a few days ago and all of a sudden there are these problems.

Ok I did everything that the tutorial said and it still didn't work. It seemed to be going good but then when it was time to burn the movie just didn't want to transfer. Something about an error. Ughhh

I think it has to do something with the fact that the DVD is from Sony.

i finally did Madagascar and also Stealth like this:

1. Didn't have AnyDVD [though i hear it's a good program and i may get it]
2. Ripped with DVDFAB
3. Ran through VobBlank with default settings, ie input us the just ripped DVDFAB files and output to another directory.
4. DVDshrink with the new files that you just processed with VobBlank.
5. In DVDshrink for the best quality settings i had to turn off the sharp settings else it didn't turn out good, but Stealth worked good with the setting on or off though

Done pretty good and simple, worked good

I'm confused, is Madagascar Sony or Universal, or did Sony buy Universal???

By the way, cza, what error did you get? There should be way to get past the protection even if it is a Sony movie. Their protection will never be on part of the disc that actually plays. This means it is fixable.

Also, if you want, send me the IFOs. If you want to do that, let me know and I will PM you. I could maybe figure out what to do or see what is wrong.

I have been checking out several other forums as well and there seems to be many different ways to back this title up. Some DVDD and Shrink, while others are using Jaguars guide from here or Cynthias guide from digital digest. Someone from Slysoft said this may be the first implementation of RipGuard. After trying many different ways to copy this damn movie, for $hits and giggles I ripped it in DVDD in file mode and used Recode to burn. Worked great.

I ripped Madagascar with DVDDecrypter (still king of the hill) although it took a little longer to do..... then I used DVDRebuilder to just decode movie only and burned with CopyToDVD! Perfect every time!

More on my post earilier today. I came home from work and re ripped in file mode. I then shrunk the whole thing(less some of stupid extras) using Nero Recode. NO PROBLEMS. I was running into an error when I tried to use Shrink. If this is ARccOS it is a completely new version. Any body have any light they could shed on the subject?

I read this was RIPGUARD also, but if Decrypter did it by itself I doubt its the new Ripguard protection. Guess I'll have to get a copy and check it out.

If Shrink failed and Recode did not, it means it is a structure protection system. Recode may process it, but make sure it works correctly when you burn. This means, save the image and burn to a DVDRW and test it before burning to a DVDR.

Sometimes these problems arise from badly authored DVDs too, but I doubt that is the case here.

If the error was something like: "Invalid Data in VTS_XX_1.VOB" then the protection was not removed properly.

Also, check out the link to the guide again. I made some updates on on which steps are optional. I also pointed out that IFOEdit will create a new VTS, but it will be in a different folder, so you will have to drag and drop to the original.

They have released a new version of DVDFab Decrypter. It fixes the "Madagascar" issue. This is taken from the change log in DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.5.8:
Quote:
"2.9.5.8 (11/18/2005)
- Change: Added support for a new protection as found on "Madagascar" (US).
It's not a Sony movie, but the protection is almost same with Sony ARccOS."

Make sure you uninstall your current version of DVDFab Decrypter before you install this version!!

You can get it here: http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
