@Jaguargod

What kind of beer do you drink?!?!?!?! $9 for a bottle?!?!?!?! I prefer Sol or Stingray myself. I can get Sol when I go to North Carolina but alas I can only get Stingray on Grand Cayman Island. :( I did use PGCEdit with the ARccOS plugin written by The Mad Monk. I will let you know how it goes. It may take me a while as the wife and I are moving this weekend. Our current house sold before our new one is done being built. Let me tell you when you have been in a single family house of the better part of a decade, apartment living sucks!

Beer is good...and stuff!

Hey guys got the latest version of dvdfab and was able to rip it and open it with shrink but when I try to burn it, it gets about 71 percent into it and get an error message saying out of memory. Any idea why? same thing happen to me that happen to the person before me. We must have been repling at the same time.

foolproof working copy with menus
1. DVD Decrypter or latest version of dvdfab free
2. Open decrypted files with VobBlanker
3. Under VTS_08, blank PGC 2,3,4, and 5.
4. Output to new dir.
5. Open blanked file dir with DVD Shrink.
6. Thank Jaguar God!!

This worked for me, hope it helps. Very simply, have AnyDVD running and then just use CloneDVD2, thats it!! Perfect copy (well as good as it can) with full working menus, I stripped out the audio that wasn't needed but it works..

Simple :

Download & Install AnyDVD 5.5.5.1
Then DVDShrink 3.2.0.15 to Rip & Burn

Problem Solved!

Total Time approx. 16min.

x8 DVD-R

Anyone who says otherwise works for "Dreamworks"

The $9.00 a bottle beer would be Saisson DuPont from Belgium. This is a larger size at 750mL.

The other beers I drink, which BTW I like more, are Schneider Weiss Original, Kostritzer Schwartz, Monchshof Schwartbier, Franziskaner Hefe weiss, etc... All German beers mainly from Southern Germany. I also like Belgian Wit beers like Hoegaarden and those Spontanious Fermented Fruity Beers from there as well.

These are not beers the average person will enjoy though, except maybe Monchshof and Kostritzer.

Also, I see the PGC 2, 3, 4, & 5 worked out for one more person. I wonder if I figured out Ripguard????

Also, good luck with your new home. I hope everything works out for you.

click on the trouble file vts_08 in blanker. It will open the contents of vts_08 underneath in the new "spreadsheet". vts_08 contains 5 items. PGC 1-5. Highlight 2-5 and on the right side click blank. Then process.

What an awesome job Jaguargod on the Madagascar info. Aslo nods to Tone28 for making it even more understandable to us mere software mortals.
I was just wondering how you discovered which PGCs to blank. I have another movie (old and unimportant) that has become a personal crusade to process. The movie is Weird Science ( a Sony Flick) that will not let me rip it in any way with any tool I have tried. I am thinking that it is the same deal as this but I would need to figure it all out. Can you help? Thanks

I am very glad to be of help. I have received answers to a lot of problems in these forums, and i love to be able to give back. The real credit goes out to JaguarGod, who has replaced the man sitting in the dvd ripping throne and deserves a lifetime supply of 9 dollar beers delivered in a timely fashion to his doorstep. I do believe this is RipGuard in its adolescent stage, and i believe that its back to the drawing board fellas!

@tone28

Thanks for that comment!!! Yeah, I am pretty sure they will implement Ripguard better pretty soon.

@jboonj,

I figured out which PGCs to blank by taking a look at the IFOs that Christ93 sent me. When I looked at those PGCs' cell commands, they did not do anything except go back and forth between a menu in VIDEO_TS.VOB and the PGC in VTS_08. Also, PGC 5 was not referenced by any Cell commands anywhere in the DVD. I am pretty sure it is PGC 5 that is giving the problems, but it is better to blank them all anyways.

Just finished backup of Madagascar.

Method used:

Rip with DVD Decrpyter using ISO Read mode

Open the resulting Disk Image in DVD Shrink

Let Shrink analyse the movie

Use Re-author to do main movie only - get rid of all unecessary languages/audio streams etc.

Burn the movie using Nero or similar - easy.

Just a follow up. Madagascar worked. First I did the Rip-Blank and Burn Method. Then I Downloaded the new DVDClone2 and AnyDVD When used together they worked without a hitch. The second method is just going to be a bit more expensive and less complex but I am still committed to learning how DVDs actually work. In whick case I am still going to need lots of coaching from all you software genies.

Hi Jaguar me again.
OK really started to work on your guide. 3 things that would make a world of difference.
1. Your guide is for Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Could you show the guide using Madagascar as this title uses totaly different VOB, PGC and Cells.
2. The guide on the post does not show any of your screen shots. All I see is a "Bandwidth Exceeded" where your shot should be and without them some of your refernces cannot be followed as in the guide you will say "this is what you should get" I dont know cause the shot is missing..lol
3. I am using the newest version of DVDdecrypter and it seems to be able to know which files are corrupted and rip the movie without any manipulation of the files. Does this mean that I should be able to just skip the whole first part of your guide?
Now I know I am asking a lot but I am new to the world of file coding and such so I am a true newbe. But I would really like to be able to know what this is all about.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

1. I do not have this movie, so I cannot make up a guide for it. The greatest chance of me getting it is next week when I will also get Skeleton Key & Christmas with the Kranks. Possibly also Ongbak (sorry if I misspelled it).

2. I will change the piicture host to Imageshack, but in the meantime, send me a PM with your e-mail and I will send you a .PDF of the guide. Also check out this link for a shorter guide using Stealth:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260734

3. Now, If Decrypter knows which files are corrupt, then rip in File Mode. However, process it through VobBlanker and Blank out PGCs 2, 3, 4, & 5 of VTS_08.

If you mean about the Corrupt VTS, then you are correct, Decrypter is not fooled by this any more. I included it in the guide because it is still possible to select those VTS manually.

Also, please feel free to ask as many questions as you like and also write any comments on the guide. I appreciate any feedback.

Madagascar---- After endless hours of trying to back it up, using different suggestions from others with no success.... I found one
that was not complicated and very simple to follow and I already had the software: DVD Decrypter and Shrink. A Thankyou goes out to colw
(Senior Member) 23. November 2005 @ 04:29. It doesn't get any easier than this......

I can verify the following worked to get a complete backup, not just the movie.

Using DVD43 in the background (not sure if I needed to or not)

1. Use DVDFab Decryptor
2. Open the results up with VOB BLANKER. Leave the settings as default. Just fill out the output section (where you want the finished file to go) and click process.
3. Use shrink to open file and use as usual.
4. I used DVD Decryptor to burn, but you could use whatever you normally use I presume.

This will give you the whole dvd, not just the movie.

Have been trying for hours to burn this movie and am growing frustrated. Everyone mentions AnyDVD, but my trial version has run out and can't download another (any suggestions). Ripped movie with DVDDecryptor, tried to VOB, but get an error message stating "Unsyncronized". I am no techie, so I need the easiest method to burn this movie without having to pitch my computer out the window! I would like the main movie and the Killer penguins Xmas Caper short. I have DVDDecryptor (latest version), DVDFab express, DVD Shrink. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

i did Madagascar effortlessly last night with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like io do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..

@cougar-ii. Cheers..

@All- re Madagascar - its all good, a few different methods that only work for some are just as good as one method that works for all.
