Is there any suspicion that these have been outsourced?
Some have gone on sale up my way, and I want to make sure I am getting the real deal, but there are VERY few left so i have to decide fast....
Does the MKM001 code guarantee they are good, or should I be looking for a country of manufacture?

both are legit but when buying dvd media try to look for the one that's make in Singapore or Japan since Taiwan produces all time of dvd medias from the worst to some of the best.

From what I have encountered with verbatim, Made in taiwan is mostly on their +r/-r media. Made in singapore is on their +2.4x DL media. All very good and using the quality specs of Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.I believe India also makes verbs.
I haven't heard of dl's being fakes yet,only time will tell on that!
MKM001 is perhaps the finest DL media out there.I see more issues with the ritek and phillips dl media than the verbatim.
BTW: Catfreak posted BestBuy has 10 spindles of these for under $20

Not Double Layer but I recently got some non printable data life plus 8X DVD+R with the excellent MCC003 code, these were made in India.
I'd watch out for the "Pearl white" series from Verbatim as these have been outsourced to various makers like CMC.

@saugmon...ive had a variety of verb 8 and 16x -r from various sources, and the made in india ones are the worst.They even look differant in that they seem paler, and have a silver rim around the outer edge of the recording side.Soooo differant from the taiwanese and singapore discs.Ive got some verbs using a ty dye, made in japan.These are ok, but i still think theres nowt to beat pukka ty discs which is what im using now my verbs have run out.Coming back to verb -r dl discs,at 5 bucks a shot and two failed burns (only burned one layer!)I too would like to know if there the same variations in quality in the dl discs as there are in the single layers.

Pieman: I only burn the plus format for booktyping purposes.The only dash verbs I bought was a 5 pack digital movie quality 4x.These are the ones with the picture of a film reel on them. I only burned 2.The second disc coastered out during the burn.That's my only burn coaster this year on 1000+ backups! I gave the other 3 to a buddy of mine with an NEC 2510.
Here's some of the plus coded verbs I have used:
Digital movie quality +4x= Mcc-002
Data life +4x= Mcc=002
Data life +4x= Ricohjpn-r02
Data life plus +8x= Mcc-003
Data life plus +8x full hub printable= Mcc-003
Data life +16x= Mcc-004
Dual layer +2.4x= MKM-001-00
All these are made in taiwan,with the exception of the dl verbs.
All are going strong and are some of my most reliable media.0 coasters this year on over 400+ backups
The dash verbs,my benqs don't like them. Huge difference between the dash and plus on my burners.

@pieman - you not think much of the Verb TY discs then ?, i love 'em, though i only have 1400 or so left !!, will have to buy some more soon

Pieman: What brand name and model# is your DVD-RW drive?
I haven't had any verbs made in India,but a buddy of mine gave me some staples +8x that were moser bauer of india. His NEC 1100A had a hell of a time with them,no problem for my benq 1620.I've been getting better scans at a faster burn speed.The slow 2.4x gives me the most problems.
As long as your verbs don't code as cmags,you should be good as gold. Our neighbors to the north in canada are getting those verb cmags.

@sugmon - Made in India Verbs will probably send pieman mad, he pops up now and then and he still hates them LOL :) though i've had great success with lots of them, luck o' the draw i guess

Hi guys! ive been offline for a while....family members going upstairs.Anyway, my burner is a pioneer 109 v1.58...should really be bombproof.And as for those indian verbs!!**seethe**Ive bunged them cos i couldnt trust them.Every burn i test speed wise on dvdinfopro just to let me know if theyre playable or not.Get a few spikes, but depends from which tub theyre from.But Im a happy bunny now cos all ive got is TYs, some 8x-rs and some 16x-rs.Bloody marvellous.Dont need to test these babys!!
