Actuall it's like this
Newbie to Junior Member -- 25 posts
Junior Member to Member -- 100 posts
Member to Senior Member -- 500 posts
Senior Member to Addict -- 2500 posts
anyone to Moderator -- determination and bribes to admins
anyone to Admin -- decent six-figure (euros or dollars, we are not picky) lump sum to AfterDawn's Swiss bank account

Yes, but the kind of help you are crying out for is more psychological than technical...LOL
There's poor communicatin skills that we can work with, ie bad spelling/punctuation/grammar - or just generally not being terribly good at english. But this kinda streches the mark as far as lee way goes
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/256458
what do you think.
I'd like to also add that it may be a good idea to stop posting `stupid posts` because the mods won't take too well to it.

Hi all,
Granted I am relatively new (as far as timeon AD) and really don't get why everyone wants to be promoted so fast. Take time to read, learn, enjoy and give back the info you have gotten from AD. There are too many folks worried about post counts...if you are contributing then you will eventually move up and earn the promotion status. Sometimes its better not to respond and use the offensive post button rather than trounce useless posts as it only adds fuel to the fire and in turn "cushions" your own post count.

The NEWBIE statis only shows you are new to this site. It is not meant to rate your knowledge. One of my new hobbies is FTA receivers. I am a newbie on several FTA sites however I know enough information that I had my system up and running in less than 1 hour time. I have enough computer skills to know how to program and update the receives and even get into the files and reprogram them if needed. But I'm stll a newbie on the forums. That doesn't take away anything from the knowledge I already know. Don't let the ranking be your only measurement of a person or their ability.

all members including mods were newbies at 1 time. some members are here for the status or trying for the status whereas the majority are here to teach & learn. teach others what they know & learn from others for info they don't know. hence my saying "teach & learn".

post count means squat, there have been several (now banned members) who have tried to post tons just to get 'status' in here.
just remember oreo_lord, just cuz your a newbie here does not mean that you dont have knowledge and wisdom to share. you will get noticed as by the help do you provide here, not by post count.

harrumph! - it's 07:23 and there's a guy in the office in early, dunno what he does. he's typing at 65 words a minute - what a muppet - he's got all day to work, why get it all done in 5mins - most of the office don't even start 'til 8am - i do most of my weekday afterdawning between 7 and 8am. ah well, i should have a new name - grumpy!
but as to 'creaky' yeah my poor old knees tend to creak a bit these days :(

My two cents......
New members who want to be a contributing part of this forum should definitely help where possible. It will get noticed. BUT don't go behind someone else with:
So and so is right, do this, this and this and basically give the same advice. It's annoying and only makes it look like you're posting for count and not for the benefit of the person with the question/problem.
The only exception in my opinion is if you want to go into more detail and be more specific.
Tip:
Don't try to be sarcastic or smartass(in a funny way) without pointing it out. Voice inflections and and body language that you would normally use just don't show in plain text and often cause flames.
Once people get to know you then they learn when to take comments seriously, but other newbs won't know yet.
