I had a bin/cue that I converted to MPG using VCDgear. This new MPG is playable in WMP9, but I cannot open it in TMPGEnc or VirtualDub. I want to be able to open the file in TMPGEnc so that I can separate the video and the audio (save it as separate .m2v video and PCM .wav audio). This makes it much easier for me to burn it to DVD using MyDVD.

Any idea on what I should do to get this file to open up in TMPGEnc?

Oh, the error I get when opening the MPEG reads:

"File xxxxxxx can not open, or unsupported."

And for VDub:

"MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error"

extract into the tmpgenc folder with winrar and run the conf file and close it again then. it should be able to read the file then!

open it with a program called Xmpeg 4.3Alpha and you can convert it to a useable file.

When trying to convert an Avi to Mpeg 2, I get an error in TMPGEnc saying the Video can not open or is unsupported.

The output file name and audio do fine. Do I have to download a special codex, and if so, where can I get it and how do I configure it? I have searched this site but am very confused. Please help!

OK, we'll try a couple of things, first click - option - environmental settings. Click the vfapi plug-in tab and look for DirectShow FileReader in the list, when you find it, right click it and raise it's priority to 2.

Now Try and if it doesnt work we will try decompress the audio!

When I did as instructed, an error message appeared and said, "The file cannot be loaded."
To the left of that it said, "ReadAVS.dll." And I noticed that "Direct Show Mulitmedia File Reader" jumped to the top of the page. When I tried to raise the priority again, it did change to 2. But that didn't solve the problem.
