Have used Power to Go for quite a while successfully in a Liteon drive.
Received a new cake of 50 RiData 8X-R disks but when I try to burn from Shrink with AnyDVD I get the error message ---

"Please insert a writable disk into drive 'I:\LITE-ON DVDRW SCHIN-BSOC' then press ok"
Changed over to a Nec3520A but get the same error.

Decided the batch of disks were defective and will sent for replacement.

In order to get back sooner, ordered a new batch ( also from Newegg ),
they came today however they do the same error message.

Can you offer any help on this problem?

Will try to explain ---

The disc is put in the DVD burner, call up Shrink, click open in Shrink, click ok, main movie will come up, click full disc then backup, select backup target (hard folder output), Have a folder for output and select it, Shrink will start to encode if there are files to remove click yes.
After Shrink is finished bring up Power to go to copy DVD files, locate the file, put it in Power to go and click burn. It will suck the disc in the burner and ask for speed, number of copies, make the selection and click burn.
Generally this works ok, but now it looks at the disk and puts it back out with the error message.

I am using RiData 8X-R discs

Shrink is just standard download. Have bought AnyDVD, it will run in the backgrand of my task bar if I click on the AnyDVD icon on the desktop

Trust this is some help, if not please ask.

@creager hi :)
RiData 8x-r . should ID out as RITEK G05 -r 8x. have used many 100s of them myself, good stuff. but with your liteon i am surprised your not useing +r booktyped -rom (much more compatable with players)
how long have you had AnyDVD installed?. i found that when i had it. it caused all sorts of problems with Power 2 Go. unistalled it ,back to normal.
i run DVD43 with no problems to decrypt in the back ground.
Power 2 Go is a very good apt to copy disc to disc , as long as the disc you are copying is already decrypted.
seeing as you are already useing shrink, a much better way is to use shrink and DVD Decrypter, simpler and quicker

Gurnard,
The disc I am using are DVD-R RIDATA DRD-478-RDCB50 50PK RT
(Serial#: 846122002009)
Do you feel they are ok?

I will remove AnyDVD (that hurts as I just paid for it on this months credit cars).

Which would be your choice of the Nec3520A or the Liteon?

Hi gurnard :) yep that alien ain't coming out the jar, 'til he stops making excuses.

creager: having purchased AnyDVD I wouldn't be so keen to get rid of it, if I were you. It is a very good program.

However I have to agree with gurnard; you do seem to be making things difficult for yourself.
Why not set DVDShrink to burn with DVDecrypter?
That way shink picks up the files its just made, and burns them.
All this chasing around with one program to another, is fraught with problems.

Gringle,

Why not set DVDShrink to burn with DVDecrypter?

Are you saying I can copy and burn with just these two?

Believe I may have another problem, seem to have lost the DMA.

@creager hi :)
just got in from work, thats why i've been a while answering, but Gringle is doing fine so i can have a cup of tea.
the best way to ID your disc is to click on the link in my sig below and download DVDidentifier put your disc in and it will give us all the info we need.
and dont zap AnyDVD . i know very little about it because it was not on my pc long enough for me to play with, i should think that you could just close it down when you didn't need it. then turn back on when you do.

Gringle, thanks I can use all the help you may offer.
Yesterday had to go the VA and that was a lost day. Today the wife had a list of to do's. Really have not got into it yet.
Don't know where to start. Would like to try Shrink and download DVDecrypter and see what that will do. However I know my DMA is fouled, believe that would screw up DVDecrypter. Probable best to try and fix DMA and that reads like it could turn into a job over my knowledge of computers.
Do you have a opinion?

I really don't know where to start, You've caught me at the end of my re-generation cycle. ( in other words just sobering up.)

If you browse the net you'll find cases' of 'direct memory failure' occurring after two or three I/O errors, and the PC reverting to PIO mode.

It ain't a biggy; if it was, I'd be writing this on a slab of stone. :)

In the link I gave you, Pete has an excellent piece on how to set up your computer, for burning, I can't say or recommend more than that.

keep them queries coming.
