I've got some old backups to which I no longer have the originals. They were all made with DVDXcopy Xpress awhile back. I'd like to rip just the main movie into an .ISO, but DVDShrink won't read them because of some checksum error, and DVD Decrypt won't work either it just gets software read errors constantly. Has anyone done this before? The discs still play on my computer so I'm assuming they are still good. Thanks.

If the dvds are still good DVD Decrypter should be able to read them. Have you actually tried watching an entire movie?

Usually when you have problems copying a backed up copy it is due to poor media. What brand were the backup made on. DVD Decrypter should be able to handle the task easily using ISO->read->write.

Youre probably right about the media, it was some off-brand that seemed to work well initially. I tried watching one of the backups and it stutters during playback. But, I did finally get one of them to work with DVDShrink, I'm pretty sure it was the last DVD I backed up using Xcopy only a few months ago.

Thanks!

Sorry dude, but if you used crappy media to start with it's gonna be hit or miss trying to reburn 'em. Some good media would be Sony,Fuji, and Maxell (Made in Japan), and Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Ritek.
