Hey everyone,

I have a slim US PS2 with a fliptop, but I need to use a boot disc every time I want to play an import title (obviously). I find this really troublesome, and would rather just pop in my games and have them boot up instantly without having to swap anything. I'm wondering whether or not I should mod my PS2 so I can have my import games boot up instantly.

I called my import store, and they mod slim PS2's for $99. I asked them which chip they use, and they said the Aladdin. Does anyone know about the Aladdin chip? They said it's going to be an internal mod...hopefully this means that I don't need a boot disc, switch, or anything else. Should I pay $99 to mod my PS2, or just buy a Japanese one for an extra $119? Hmm...
