I have a old PS2 (not sure what version), it is chipped (not sure with what), it plays backed up games fine but I tried to play a dvd the other day and it doesn't work. I have tested it with UK films, US films and also backed up dvd's and nothing works. All that happens is it goes to the memorey card screen and shows a a cd and then when I click on it it goes blank for a few second then returns to the memory screen.

Any ideas what may be wrong with it please?

Cheers

Rob

a lot of chips require a special boot sequence to boot dvd movies.

After some seaching I think I may have found it, it looks a lot like a Matrix MXL2. It says I need to get a blue light on the reset button which I cant seem to do.

It says you need to hold the reset button when it is red, no matter how long I hold it it doesn't turn blue.

Have you any idea if its worth getting it looked at and where would do it?

Cheers

Rob

Ok got it working, the PS2 does reset itself even though there is no blue light. I can now play all my dvd's, cheers for the help. I'm really glad I didn't spend loads of money trying to 'fix' my problem.
