DVD not recognized by my PC

Hi, I was trying to make a back up of a foreign DVD (Korean) using DVD shrink and my PC simply does not recognize any data in the DVD. It simply says disc is empty and when I tried DVD shrink it says there's no disc. however when I play the disk in a regular DVD player, it plays fine. Has anyone seen this kind of error? Any help is appreciated.
