I'm pretty new to the dvd burning scene and decided to start off burning with "quality" SONY brand dvd-rs. However whenever I successfully burn a movie with Nero, DVD Shrink etc etc, the video will freeze and stop during playback in my xbox.

I also tried playing the DVDs on my PC and my mac and they'll play flawlessly on both. A friend of mine came over and left some of his TDK DVD-rs which I burned some movies to, and to my surprise they play without a problem on the xbox. So what's the deal with SONY DVD-R's and xbox??? (which also don't play right on my budget dvd player)

Is there a workaround or a fix. Should I be burning SONY's a diff. way? I have a 50pck spindle here.

HELP?

let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

hi, after a quick look at ur Nero log...2 things to consider off the top of my head...
Quote:
Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S>Version: KS04 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.3.1.26
your Nero is out of date...i would suggest updating to the newest version which is 6.6.0.18~ :) dated Nov. 14th, 2005

also, i have that same drive as you...the newest firmware is KSOB found here dated 10/14/05, yours is about 3 revisions behind...:

It looks like you might also be burning too close to the edge of the media:
Quote:
ast possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB)
Try adjusting your target size to 4300 and see if that helps.
Quote:
12:59:54 AM #29 Phase 37 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273
Burn process completed successfully at 8x (11,080 KB/s)
You might want to slow down the burn speed as well. Try 4x max.

i'm on about ATAPI drivers - this is version 6.x (they're not listed in 7.x anymore) so they should be listed in that section...
