Hello everone, just to let you all know I have been reading this site for some time. You all have valuable info on here. So now that I have a problim I will turn to you for help. After I play a backed up game for about 15 min my ps2 will shut off and the front light will start flashing it wont let me do anything to it till I turn the power off and on from the back. It did it to me on another game last night so I dont belive that the game is the problim like I first thought. It may be over heating I do keep it in a coffie table drawer with it only opend about 2 inches for my cord to my controler to come out. but I been playing it this way for a few weeks now since my intertainment center got busted. So if any of you have ever had this problim please let me know. Oh btw I have SM 3.3 and a flip top lid. No Modchip.
Thanks all.

I think the problem might be that it's overheating as well. Have you tried testing playing games with the system out of the drawer (maybe on top of the table)?.

heat could be an issue for sure. The slim heats up quick,
even more so if it has a chip. I would try this
take it out of the drawer
take a small house fan and point it at the unit
then try playing it for a while.
if the better air flow doesn't help then it may not be heat
but the PS2 itself may have developed problems.
But it is not good to have it closed up like that for sure

Sorry I couldnt reply sooner. First off it is not a slim it is an older one but not one of the reall old ones. Its like a version or 2 before the slim. I will try to take it out the drawer later tongiht after the wife goes to bed and see if that helps. its just so weird it just turns smooth off like you hit the power button but the little red light will be flashing. Oh I also have a hard drive in it, I forgot to mention that.

Sounds to me like it might be a short maybe... when you put on your fliptop lid did you keep the reset/on switch cable out of the way?

I would open up the case and check the cable just to be on the safe side.
How long have you had the fliptop mod done to the ps2?
