I have searched and can't seem to find the forum post or guide on how to do this. I would like to get a DVD..and convert it into a single stand alone file on my computer...

What programs do I need to accomplish this? any freeware?

I currently am running WindowsXp pro and Nero 6 Ultra. Also went ahead and downloaded DVDShrink and DVDEncrypter.

Since you have Nero you could use Recode to create a single mp4 file. For an AVI, check out AutoGK.
