Have you tried burning at different speeds? I have 3.6 as well and my backups work just as fast as the originals.

It could be the quality of the dvds. Burn at 4x b/c that is the preferred speed. If you downloaded the game then that could be the problem. If you didn't then there is no reason it should be taking long to load unless the ps2 is having a hard time reading the disk.

I'd go the HDD Route.. If you have a Network Adapter and a Hard Drive Laying around you'll be good to go with this site

HD Loaders are great, but they have some limitations. I believe HD Advance 3.0 is compatible with a great deal of games, but not all. Also you can't play games online with a HD, because it disables the network adapter (unless they fixed that with HD Advance 3.0) and there's no support for PSX games. It is an excellent product by all accounts, just thought that was some stuff you should know. Hell with a modchip you can download HD Advance run it off your MC and load games off the HD, leaving no need for discs at all. The only way I know of to get full functionality for your PS2 is with a modchip. I got a Matrix Infinity about a week ago, and it's given my PS2 new life. I've been playing NHL 2006, Soul Reaver 2, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi, and bunch of other games. It kicks some serious ass. The limitations on a good modchip are the cost (between $100 and $110 for a Matrix or DMS 4) and the fact it still uses the PS2 Laser. Aside from that they're awesome. P.S. Fireblaze check your PM's.

i do not think the chip would make it load faster, but
is sure better all around then Swap Magic.
Media and burn speed would most likely solve
the problems you are having
good qulaity 8X DVD-R burned at 4X may do the trick.
