SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!:) The one and only, Plus there on sale at SONY DVD-R 8x Best Buy $17.99 for a spindle of 50
Reg.$39.99 Quality is SONY provides. I also like Verbatim, but that's it. I used to use TDK 8x but like many other DVD media distributors there quality is inconsistent and differs between media types and speeds i.e printable and non-pritable 4x to 8x etc.

I agree with paradyme, Sony is great. 500+ discs and 0 coasters and all playable in any dvd player I can find!

I have to agree with Verbatim. I have a different Sony DVD burner than you do (Sony® DRU-800A Internal Double Layer DVD Burner). I've tried cheap discs (Office Depot) which weren't bad at slow burn speeds, but they're really not to be trusted unless you burn at 1x. Who wants to do that?

I just bought some Verbatim DVD-R 16x for the first time. I was up all night burning at 16x. I was making simple data (back-up) discs with Nero 7 and verifying every disc I made. I was maxing out the 4.7GB capacity and each burn only took 15 minutes - including verification. I've been enjoying 100% success on all my Verbatim discs. I have Windows XPsp2, 1 gig of memory (2700DDR) and a 1800AMD processor (1.5ghz). Don't flame me because of my outdated system!

I bought 2 spindles of 50 Verbatim DVD-R's at Office Depot for $12.99 each. That's less than 28 cents per DVD-R including tax. Office Depot often has great deals on media, but you have to really look. I go there all the time for other office supplies, so I'm always looking for deals on DVD/CD media.

And if you're looking for speed - you have absolutely got to have enough RAM! When I first started with this Sony burner I only had 512mb RAM. My burns were taking like 3 hours! I doubled the RAM and now can burn in 10 to 15 minutes! Holy Cow!

Hope I helped.
