I usually don't bother with something this complicated, but I'd like to make a copy of one of my roommate's games so that we don't have to keep playing tug-of-war over it when we both want to play it. Unfortunately, said game is on DVD9, which makes things a little awkward for me.

It would be nice if someone had a ready link for a step-by-step tutorial on how to properly burn a DVD9 image (using a Sony DRU-810A here, so I'm good on the hardware front), but what I'm really wondering is what are a couple of absolutely -excellent- brands of DL media for this purpose. It's bad enough making coasters with regular blank DVD-Rs, but dual-layered discs are entirely too expensive for me to go figuring this out by trial and error. Anyone had great experience with a particular brand?

I always use Verbatim DL's, works pefect for data and films...
One thing you might want to consider about DL backup games: Most modchips won't play them, and i don't think swapmagic can do it, either... So you might want to look into rebuilding the game, and then fitting it ona regular DVD5... There are some guides on that, just use the search, or wait for some other members to respond, there are some people here who know more about that kinda thing than me.

I think I will give this a try, yes. I'd totally forgotten about the TOC issues with the bigger games when using Swap Magic. I'm not sure how much smaller I'll be able to make things without ripping content out, which is not something I want to do, so perhaps either buying a second copy of the game or continuing to play tug-of-war with it is all that can be done. It's worth a try, however. Thank you.
