Uhhh...I don't think that technique will work with VDM. At a very early version, it was said that anything encoded with Windows Media is not supported by Virtual Dub.

Here's what you can do:

Just go back to VDM, and if you get this error message:

Then just forget it and ask someone for another program to remove the audio. Or you could look for Virtual Dub v1.3c and try to see if you could do something with that.

If not, then just ignore that popup by pushing OK, then just go to Streams>Streamlist>Save WAV to save the audio file (which I think you meant AAC) to .wav.

Tell me if that works.

hey Rikoshay,

I don't get the error that you have there, just the errors i mentioned earlier. I am able to extract the audio to wav file without using the full processing mode but it is a very small file, around 23Mb. I'm assuming its still compressed and not an actual wav file. I'm sure of this because i try playing hte wav file in Winamp and i get an error:

"Missing codec, unable to open file"

i tried using BeSweet as suggested in the TMPGEnc forums, but had no luck. I finally was able to extract the audio using AVIMUX-GUI since it supports AAC audio extraction. The output was an .AAC file. Now I'm looking for programs to convert from .AAC to mp2 or AC3 so i can make my dvd. I've been looking into using GraphEdit. if i have any luck i'll post it here. I've have been asking for a transcoding software to convert AAC files to AC3,mp2 or wav in this thread

please feel free to post :)

Thanks

Well, that's good. I'm glad you were able to fix the problem. I think you could have also used CDex from this site to convert to .wav, then .AC3 (not sure about .ac3). You could really use anything to make a decent .wav file, since Wave is a lossless format, so it doesn't loose quality. The only real difference from .mp2 and .AC3 is mainly AC3 usually supports multi-channel encoding, like 5.1 audio and stuff.

Good luck with the DVDs!
