I hope somebody can help me before I make anymore coasters. Let's get the equipment out of the way first. I'm using a Plextor 716A burner with the latest firmware loaded. I'm running the latest version of DVD Shrink and have the latest versions of DVD Decryptor(now ImgBurn) DVD43 and AnyDVD at my disposal. I also have the latest update version of nero 6. First I tried shrink by itself with no luck. Then I Decryted it to my HD (after using Any DVD) and copied the files to a Ritek DVD+R DL disc with shrink (obviously no compression needed). I got a failed burn message so I used DVD 43 in place of Any DVD and it copied but when I play it on my set top DVD player, the menu page looks all pixelized like your Sat. dish does in a rain storm. In addition, it opened up 2 windows (one for movie and one black screen)when I tried it on the PC with Power DVD. I tried burning it a second time with DVD 43, DVD Decryptor and shrink on a standard single layer disc with the same pixelized picture. Are me settings wrong somewhere or am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If burning to DL disc's, DVD Shrink is not even needed. Simply do a ISO Read and ISO Write in DVD Decrypter.

Is ImgBurn ok to use instead of DVDD? It looks identical and is fully supported and updated. Should I use default settings? Once decrypted, how do you suggest I burn the data? I tried using Nero alone but it didn't seem to see that I was using a DL disc.

Here is a great guide by bbmayo on this process:

mtrunz ,
Adding to what the others have stated I would also change the D/L blank media to Verbatim and burn it at 2.4. Some people have reported problems w/ the Ritek D/L blank media

Odd... I was able to use shrink without any problems.

No decrypter needed, just shrink alone and single layer media, maximum sharpness setting, 4X burn. No problems.

Here is the procedure that I found most sucessfull to stop producing expensive coasters.
1. Dual Layer backup.
1.a. Leave AnyDVD running on background.
1.b. Copy and Burn with CloneDVD via ISO image. Burn at 2.4X max.
2. Single Layer Backup.
2.a. Leave AnyDVD running on background.
2.b. Use DVD Decrypter or DVD Fab to rip it on HD.
2.c. Use DVD Shrink to full backup or reauthor the original compilation
2.d Burn the new project with the latest version of Nero 6.XX (express version is also doing the job). Burn at 4X max.

Thanks for the guide link but after doing exactly as the guide instructed I received 2 errors.
1. Encryption detected. Mentioned that this was strange and
asked if I wanted to proceed so I clicked "yes to all".
2. Right after error#1, this appeared (twice and counting):
on the fly IFO/BUP File Patching failed
File name: VTS_03_0.IFO
Size: 36,864 bytes
Reason: PatchIFO failed
In spite of these errors, it tells me the operation was successful.

Any suggestions? I already uninstalled and re installed DVDD before trying this. Am I any better off using ImgBurn? BTW, AnyDVD was running in the background.

mtrunz,
If AnyDVD is running in the background then there would be no encryption key showing. Yours show DVDD is trying to decrypt the movie and not AnyDVD

I used DVD Decrypter to rip to my HDD & burned with Nero to a Ritek 2.4X DVD+R DL & no problems. I have been using this media all the time. Vertabim too expensive. I don't even have AnyDVD running.

I don't know why this particular movie gave me so much trouble but I finally got it. I downloaded DVD Clone2 and used it to rip the files to my hd (with AnyDVD running for real this time)and tried to write them to a dl disc with no success so then I tried using shrink to compress those files and write to a single layer disc which finally worked. Thanks to all who took the time to offer thier best advice. Thanks for nothing (just kidding guys)to the few who offered no help whatsoever but responded just to say how easy it was for them. If nothing else, I learned a few things from those wiser than myself. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.

mtrunz,
Since you now got AnyDVD working correctly just use that along w/ DVDDecrypter to burn a D/L Disk. It does find the layer break better than the program you mentioned.
