I picked up a 50pk of these last night. I heard alot of good reviews on maxell dvd-r. When I checked the media code.....they were CMC MAG's!!! I've bought maxell dvd-r's before (not the printable kind) and they were Ritek G05.

Did I just purchase some junk??? I burned a copy..played it in my Sony standalone...and it played decent...but wondering about success rate and compatability on other players.

Trying to get the forum's ideas before I start wasting ink on these.

Thanks in advance for your comments!!

So should I try and return these? I bought them at Office Depot. I have used about 4 so far.

See if they have them made in Japan.I bought the maxell printables at office depot when they had buy one get one free and found the made in Japan but it was the plus format.

Good luck.

Printable cmags?

I'd be very skeptical about them.Your sony may be ok with them, but other players will definitely have more trouble with them, compared to the maxell hitachis/tys/and verbatims.

Office depot has a very good return policy. As long as you have your original receipt and the outer shrink wrapper, they should take it back.
Already printed: Tell them they wouldn't play in your players.

I've used the maxell plus format in the 25 pack full hub printables from wal-mart and they are made in japan by hitachi. All the maxell cmags I have heard about have been on the dash format only. Not very many, but they are out there and even on the newer dash 8x speed.

That's why I don't recommend maxell dash media, unless the package says Made in Japan. Those will be hitachis!

I am getting close to running out of full hub printables and was waiting for Office depot's next sale so I will check those wrappers carefully.

I bought a 50-pack spindle of the +R's from the same place and they coded as Hitatchi's. Make sure you look for the "Made in Japan" on the label.
