DVD burner only burns DVD+R...Help!

I have a version 4 ps2, I am sure of this. I read a bunch on this, but some people say dvd-r's work and some say dvd+r's work. Unfortunately, my burner only burns dvd+r and I think my ps2 will only play dvd-r. I'm not concerned about the media I'm using, but since most people ask for more info...I'll try to tell you everything up front. I have Memorex +R dvd's, I use both dvd decrypter and nero. I am confident that I am doing everything correctly. My question is...does this mean I have to go out and BUY a burner that burns DVD-R?

Memorex is bottom of the barrel landfill material.

You might be allright if you use better +r media and
change the booktype to dvd-rom (using dvd decrypter).
Burning at the slowest suppoted speed (2x preffered)
You should be fine.

Have been using these for A LONG TIME.


They always seem to be MCC manufactured.

Alternatively the only other DVD media I is use is Fujifilm +r.
The Media ID from these is YUDEN and they also work superb.



I can normally find one of these of sale 50 spindle 19.99 at
my local best buy.

Thanks for the reply Jizmak! Something that I haven't thought about is my ps2 WILL play +R burned DVD movies. So maybe you are right, I need better media. I will try a few things and see what happens. I sure hope I find the right one before I end up with 10 different spindle packs laying around! I'll look at best buy for anything on the list of good quality media.

I tried Fugifilm 8x DVD+R and they work on my version 4 ps2! Does that mean that they should work with ALL games I use? I ask this because soul calibur 3 won't work...and I tried at 2x and 4x burn speeds. I hear other people have problems with soul cal...but I don't know what to do about it.
