Hey, ive encountered a problem...i recently bought the lost DVD boxset and since its extremely precious ;) i would like to keep it completely intact and try to prevent scratching it, so i want to copy the dvd's. I tried using Nero dvd copier but it gave me some copyright protection stuff (i own the original so i should be aloud to make backups !) so does anyone have any suggestions on how i can copy these copyrighted disks ?

Hi devilson,
There are 2 free programs in the software tab at the top of the page I would suggest you try:
1. dvd decrypter- can rip the dvd to your hard drive ( no longer updated)
2. dvd shrink- compresses movie to fit on a blank dvd (no longer updated; the developer now works for nero and does nero recode)/ can also be setup to use dvd decrypter or nero to burn to dvd once compression is finished
Also there is dvd fab decrypter which is updated frequently to handle newer protections (free as well)
see the first link in my signature for guides and see the guides tab at the page.

Yes clonedvd2 is one of the programs many here recommend due to its re-authoring, compressing capablities. Might I add AnyDVD in the mix supported by the same company works extremely well together. The combo can allow you to bacvk up all your dvds in your personal collection. Do a search here or check out http://www.slysoft.com/en/

Thanks alot !! Ill search for it, and also, does clone DVD get around the copy protection and remove the region code ?? And one last question, the lost cd is 8 GB, and my disk is 4.7, so if i only copy the main movie onto my DVD, how will i be able to play the movie :S ? Thanks in advance.

@devilson
AnyDVD gets around the copy protection and region codes - clone will compress the movie to fit on your disc then burn to disc. Clone by itself can't do copy protected movies.
